Hi Richard,
Alas my friend this is where we will all end up one day.
The silhouetted cross stands out well against the coloured sky, good DOF to blur the trees in the background.
Regards Andy

It works - almost perfectly!
Good light, sharpness, very good composition. The soft silhouettes of the trees are a good touch, too.
However - there's a contrail in the air that, for me, spoils the whole ambience, it's at odds with the overall patterning of clouds, it's relatively bright and it's right alongside your subject so it can't help but be seen.
A bit of cloning, I reckon.

Hello Scottish Cuzzy,
Interesting to read your notes about your home town and this cemetary, it must bring back so many memories for you as you walk through here.
I like the colours and the boldness of the cross, my eye was drawn to the white patch in the sky, (as Rew also mentioned)..I know it was naturally there, but feel it does draw your eye to it...
I must go look up the "Scottish Borders" presume its near the Scotland/England border ?..maybe I will be passing through here in a few weeks.
Greetings from down under
Kiwi Cuzzy...
Looks like a good place 'to rest in peace', well taken Richard. I have just come back from Indonesia and went to a few graveyards looking for my Grandparents graves- no luck.
Nico
Cool shot, I like the dark foreground with the brightness of the red sky. TFS.
I like it; it's moody and thought provoking !
thanks,
v
ps.the previous B&W is a bit dull; nedd a bit more contrast
pps.I'll be back with points
I like the way you have placed the cross in the frame -- gives it a very sombre mood
Best regards
RG
Hi Richard, The cross you show here has a long history and is full of emotions and meaning for many of us all over the world. You have personalised this view and evoke a strong response. Colours are good and crop is just right. TFS. Murray.

Hello Richard !
Celtic...... Music to my ears, as I love this genre. Very close to our own roots (^_^).
Minimalist composition working very well here . I like the sharpness of the cross, the DOF, and warm tones of the background .
Well done !
Robert

The bloodred sky is what makes this one really stand out, Richard!
Great PoV and composition -- those old crosses have a beauty all their own

Your gallery place tags read like a list of the United Nations membership Richard! Call me perverse then, but it's nice to see this picture by you from the Scottish Borders, and I am much interested by your note as well. I think that your "bit of an experiment" has paid-off here and I like the idea, the composition, and the after treatment.
Congratulations!
Best wishes
Bill
