Portland Bill in Dorset, one of my favourite Lighthouses.

Along the Jurassic Coast the Golden Cap rises 191 metres from the sea to form the highest cliff on the south coast. Adjacent to Portland Bill is the unique 18 mile long Chesil Beach stretches eastwards to the strange rocky landscape of Portland Bill.

The Isle of Portland has been famous for its white Portland Stone from Roman times. There are many buildings famous and otherwise that have been built using the limestone from its many quarries.

I hope you like it

Hi Paul,
I like this, the relatively slow shutter speed has "softened" the sea nicely and the colours of the lighthouse really stand out against the sky. Great work.
Cheers, John.

wonderful shot I too like the shutter speed and the light on the lighthouse

Hi Paul,
Impressive motion on the waves! Excellent slow shutter speed.
The lighthouse seems still higher with this vertical composition. Despite the cloudy sky, you captured a beautiful light making vibrant colors. Beautifully done! Annie

hello Paul ,

Superb composition , contrasts and light management with the with tower against the dark grey sky. The rocky shore is providing a foamy texture to the breaking waves with the relatively long exposition.
Well done !
Robert

Well done Paul.

Well captured and I like this POV. The exposure is great having captured these waves washing over the boulders.

TFS,
Martyn

Hi Paul, wonderful photograph. great composition and colors. The eye instantly gravitates toward the red section of the lighthouse. Well done!

Hi Paul,

The first thing I thought about when opening this photograph was: "Oh, I need to shave today!". :-) The foamy white of the water just immediately made me think about shaving hahaha.

I like the point of view and I like that you included quite some water in the photograph! The diagonal is pleasant - always works for me. And the off-center placement of the lighthouse. Nice nice nice!

Greetings,
Dennis

Excellent detail in the rock and lighthouse but fantastic slow shutter effect on the water. Fantastic photo.

Hi Paul,
Nice shot, I like the effect of the shutter speed on the sea, you have chosen a good POV for this shot that works well, good note too.
Regards Andy

Hello Paul, this is a lovely shot which reminds me of holidays spent in this area.
I like the texture of the water in the fg,it contrasts well with the greyish sky. Also I like the rocky triangle which completes the composition nicely. The red of the lighthouse just adds that extra bit of colour.
Tfs, regards Jean.

Hi Paul

Perfect shutter speed to capture some wonderful movement in the water but still blurred enough to create a beautiful effect. Excellent composition as well.

I mainly came on to your page to say congratulations on the article in DSLR User. I was reading it on the train this morning and I loved it. It was entertaining and infomative. Nice work Paul you should try a few more magazine articles.
