“Tintern Abbey is a 12th-century Cistercian abbey standing in picturesque ruins on the southeastern border of Wales. Tintern was the first Cistercian monastery founded in Wales and only the second to be founded in all of Britain.
Now among the most spectacular ruins in the country, Tintern Abbey inspired a William Wordsworth poem and more than one painting by J.M.W. Turner”

Shot in RAW - 1/180sec f 6.2 ISO 200

Focal length 28mm [35mm equivalent]

Converted with Fuji Hyper Utility 2 software.

Final PP adjustments in PTLens, PS Elements 1,
Sepia conversion, frame and text in FastStone Image viewer.

PS: Following Richard's critique I thought I would post a desaturated version without the white frame.

I would be interested to know which version is preferred.

Some nice, clean lines in this shot, Peter, and the sepia works well with this ruined abbey. You could possibly had tried desaturating just a little, that may have been interesting - I'm not saying it isn't good as it is, just suggesting a variation.

The composition works well and I like the wee puffy clouds, they add something, I think. Nice shot!

Hi,Peter,
A very elegant shot in sepia, so suiting this simple but elegant proportion of the church.
Very pleasant presentation.

Hi Peter,

Great shot, very good composition and good sharpness.

Hello Peter,

This building is perfect for the sepia treatment!

Have you ever been to Bolton Abbey?
It reminds me of this very much except it is set in a pastoral landscape. I just wondered whether you could have cropped and blurred the f/g, even used vignetting, to remove the modernness of the road.

The pov is excellent and the lighting works really well!

kind regards,
Bev :-)

Hi Peter, fine POV to capture the ruins. Subtle detail andwell converted although like Richard I feel some desat would work. TFS,
David

Hello, Peter.

I think that this is a perfect picture for the "Old Building Sepia" theme. Very well taken and nice and sharp.

I don't see why sepia-toned pictures necessarily have to be fuzzy and out of focus - after all, in the days of sepia toning, some very sharp and clear images were being taken with large-format cameras equipped with excellent lenses.

Excellent!

Best Wishes,

John.

I like the frame, but I also prefer the desat version (with perhaps just a touch more contrast?)
Great PoV, fine clean lines and of course, the perfect choice for a sepia conversion. Perhaps just a little less saturation of the sepia would have worked as well.
Nonetheless an very fine capture!

Hi Peter.

A beautiful old ruin. You've framed it very well and got the verticals nicely sorted. The day was clearly very bright and sunny and, almost 'too' sunny.

Lovely scene, well captured and processed.

Paul.
