Robert Owen's House, New Lanark II
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Well, isn't Britain (and Scotland in particular) the weirdest place on Earth as far as changeable weather goes? This picture was taken yesterday, just six hours after my last picture on this site. The snow has gone, the sun is shining brilliantly and there's only a few little clouds in an otherwise clear blue sky!
Once again, this is a picture of the house originally owned by Robert Owen, the brilliant industrialist and social reformer of the early 19th. Century, the man who developed New Lanark into a thriving spinning and weaving centre and who also did much to promote human rights and education in this otherwise poor region.
You can read more about Robert Owen and New Lanark here.
Picture shot in RAW, edited and converted to TIFF in Canon DPP, then resized, sharpened and framed and converted to JPEG in PSE6.

Hello John,
No sooner have I written a critique on the snowy version of this house, than this one pops up!
Interesting how the phone box that was so bright in the previous shot, now takes a back seat. The pale sky of the last image has now blossomed into blue and white.
The sun, of course, has now appeared, and has cast those strong shadows of the house on to the green lawn.
Clear and sharp as ever - I think I prefer this one - without the gate and notice in the FG.
Vraiment chouette!
Regards,
Peter.
