Good Morning Everyone,

Welcome to my street!
This is not quite what ! had intended posting but the weather has been so awful here for the last few days that all I could have offered was snowflakes and dark clouds. (I will post a shot of the street, taken a few days ago, in a w/s.)

This is a row of old cottages. They were probably built for farm workers at least 200 hundred years ago. They are small, cosy and very inviting!

The walls are very thick, made from natural stone; the windows are small and all the cottages have old fireplaces. These fireplaces would have burned coal which would have been the only form of heating. All the cottages had 'coalplaces' where the coal was stored after delivery by a coalman using a horse and cart.

The cottage in the w/s, also on my street, is by contrast a weaver's cottage. The telltale clue is the line of small windows on the upper floor. I hope you can see these details between the snowflakes.

Many thanks for your visit.
I hope you enjoyed the tour of my street.
Please feel free to offer feedback on any aspect of the photograph. :-)

Hi BR,

Good shot for the theme.
I like your title, and the humour touch you give there.
Excellent in details and colourfull.
All the best:)
A lovely day.

Hi Beverley !
Good subject, results.. and great notes too.
The POV is also interesting but i'm thinking it would have worked even better if the top part of the chimney on the right was not cropped out.

Best regards, Daniel

Hi Beverley
Pretty shot of your house, well framed and full of colour and detail.
My house is much newer than yours, it was built in 1846 !
Cheers Pez

Hi Bev,

A beautiful cottage... love the stones.. great textures, details and sharpness... excellent pov, :D

Have a good day,

Cheers,
Sweety

You know what Bev, that WS has a lot of charm as well!!

But indeed this is lovely - those old cottages, the stonework (that I love espacially) and the flowers growing in abundance - fantastic POV and lovely presentation.
Very enjoyable.

A gift to the eyes. " Adorable" composition. Gert Pov and ligh. Harmony lives here.

Hi Bev - You do live in a nice setting! It isn't easy to present houses/buildings effectively. You did a good job here using an upward POV, an 'animated' FG and orignal asymmetrical framing. - Cordelia :))
PS: I agree with Daniel, though, that the top part of the chimney would have been nice to have in view, too. Guess you can't have it all, can you? :))

Good morning Bev

my dear friend this is absolutely picture postcard perfect. What a lovely view.. I note not taken at this time of year lol.. such wonderful flowers and a lovely POV. Beautiful image and nice PP work

TFS and for joining in the theme

kind regards Helen

I am looking at this with envious eyes, wondering if it is too far from Leeds for a quick side trip!! (It appears that we will be in Leeds to visit Roy's brother the first weekend of May).
I love the PoV here. It looks so welcoming. Great colours and details

Just gorgeous Bev! LOVE the vines climbing everywhere! Nice colors and your framing is really nice!

Hello Beverley,
A picturesque place indeed, but imagine my disappointment as I was looking for sheep, hehehe!
I will think those cottages are in big demand now, I also notice things have been done to the buildings like changing windows...
A fine point of view giving good lines the the composition, but I will never like this kind of border!
Greetings,
Pablo -

Hi bev:
You do have a wonderful street:)
I like the sharp details all the way through and wonderful colors that you presented here...
Your frame is very creative as well...
David

Hi Bev
Picture perfect with all the lovely flowers, something we keep looking forward to, now that the sun has started to co operate.
You have snowflakes????? Where where?
Guess the only thing I could nag you with is the bit of chimney missing, but with the kind of framing you used its not that important, it looks good.
Dot

Hi Bev.
Great architecture and beautiful street.

Well done.TFS.

Hi Bev, a pretty scene. An excellent POV and the colours of the garden combine nicely with the textures of the old walls. A nice choice of frame style too, I have never actually lived where it does snow, always some miles away. TFS,
David

Many thanks for your comment on ‘Autumn in the City’

hello Bev,

i love your street showing cottage that i like very much.. infact i love it.. even my 1st day staying at my friend's house in london i love the old building..

wish we have something like that here but after world war 2 only 3 old buildings survived but later 1 burned down.. all British architecture design.

Hello, Bev.

This street - older than you? I don't believe it!

Seriously, a very nice sharp and clear picture. Not quite so sure about the sky colour, it looks just a tad on the greenish side and some of the other colours look a little feeble. Also, I do agree with Daniel (eyesthetix) that it would have been nicer if the right-hand chimney had remained in the picture.

Still, a very nice picture of what looks like a very nice street.

Kind Regards,

John.

I so loved all the stone work I saw while in the UK, Bev and this is a beautiful example. We stayed in many B&B’s, while there, and they were all old and beautiful homes. I like you have colour and lots of flowers. You have captured the texture and detail of the stone beautifully. Well done. Much more exciting than a view of my street.
Warm Regards
Wanda

Hi Bev,

Lovely image and a very interesting note. I also note that your street is named after a famous Yorkshireman! Not a bad idea for a Lancashire town :)

I like your we too. It has a real earthy edge to it.

TFS and have a good weekend,

John

Hello Bev!
Lovely your street, with snow, too!
Beautiful contribution to Fridays theme!
Best regards!
Lili

...I return... :)

Lovely point of view Beverley, those old stone buildings have so much character. You have captured it beautifully.
It does amuse me to see Sky TV dishes fixed to the wall. Imagine what the original builder would make of that!
Cheers,
Pete.

Hello Bev. You live in a beautiful street with pleasant creepers and nice flowers, Excellent composition and nicely framed. Well done and have a wonderful weekend. Best regards. Jusni

Hi Bev

Thank you for the lovely view of your street. I am so far behind with my comments..
The main capture is such a lovely presentation of these wonderful cottages of old England. For me they are soooooo romantic and this one with the bright flowers is exceptional. Also like the workshop and that should be nice without snow too.

TFS

Hi Bev,
What a lovely old stone cottage with such a magnificent garden. Love the big potted blue flowers framing the beautiful old doorway. Nicely framed with excellent details and sharpness to this beauty.
Regards, Tom
