Congratulations on this wonderful milestone. I learn every day from you. I loved the vibrant colour of these game birds that were prolific in the wild, in Scotland. I hope he will colour your day. So today a Bird just for you. I look forward to the next 25,000.

This is a male of the species which I understand is one of the many subspecies of the breed.
*” Common Pheasants are bred to be hunted and are shot in great numbers in Europe, especially the UK, where they are shot on the traditional formal "driven shoot" principles, whereby paying guns have birds driven over them by beaters, and on smaller "rough shoots". The open season in the UK is 1 October - 1 February, under the Game Act 1831. Generally they are shot by hunters employing gun dog to help find, flush, and retrieve shot birds.
The doggerel "Up gets a guinea, bang goes a penny-halfpenny, and down comes a half a crown" reflects the expensive sport of nineteenth century driven shoots in Britan, when pheasants were often shot for sport rather than as food. It was a popular Royal pastime in Britain to shoot Common Pheasants. King George V shot over a thousand pheasants out of a total bag of 3937 over a six day period in December 1913, a total which still stands as the British record bag.”
Raw, converted, croped, reflective layer with black, added at 50% opaccy. Framed, USM, signed

Bonjour Wanda
You know what, it's snowing here. Somebody shook the snowball again. That a good photo of that (Phasianus colchicus) known here as the Ring-necked Pheasant.I this this male has been hybridized. Rich colors and well positioned in the frame, he looks very proud. I love the detail of the feathers.

Hello Wanda,

What a great shot!
The sharpness and the details are excellent!
They are not easy to capture as, understandably, they tend to move at a great speed when approached!

IMO you just need to leave a little more space above his head and in front of him so that he has space to enter.

Kind regards,
Bev :-)
Congratulations on reaching 5,000 points!

A bright and colourful tribute for Linda Wanda. The pheasant is nicely positioned in the frame and has good colour and lovely detail. Our early settlers introduced these to Tasmania and on occasion I have seen them on the road verges. TFS,
