[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This photo is my contribution to this weeks theme of repetition.

A flight of sandstone steps dating from the 17th century at Ayr Gorge in Failford.

The steps can be found at Peden's Cove within this 40 hectare Scottish Wildlife Trust reserve which has been designated as a SSSI. This gorge also holds historic links to the poet Robert Burns.

These steps were cut into the sandstone to provide a place for the Scottish Covenanter, Alexander Peden, to preach to his congregation (taken from www.theriverayrway.org)

Cropped and exposure adjusted. Resized for TL

Enjoy the history lesson!

Thanks
Linzi

Nice shot Linzi. Like the unusal tall wide shot (?).
Good information about the steps, and their part in
our history. Might have to go a walk (camera in hand)
and see for myself.

Very original contribution to the theme.
These stone steps seem to be full of history, you're right.

WOW!
This is just fabulous!
The tight crop really adds to the feeling of the narrowness of these stairs
Superb colours too
