I took this picture of the River Tweed when out for a walk this afternoon near Melrose, this is about 6 miles from my home. More often than not the Tweed is quite a brown colour and fast flowing due to the amount of rain we get.

The River Tweed has always been internationally famous for its salmon fishing, with people coming from all over the world to fish it.

After three record breaking years, not only does Tweed catch more Atlantic salmon than any other river in the European Union, but it also now ranks among the very top salmon rivers in the world.

The Tweed is the second longest river in Scotland and takes great pride in the fact that it produces more fish caught to the fly than any other river in Britain.

Although regarded as a Scottish river, the first 75 miles are indeed Scottish but for the next 19 miles from Carham to Paxton, the south bank of the river is English. For its final 4 miles journey to the sea from Paxton to Berwick-upon-Tweed the river flows entirely through England.

The boarder didn't impress me but the photo sure does! I'm ready for a 'summer dip' just to cause some ripples on that water surface! Great pov and dof on a wonderful day. TFS

My home town is Peebles, Derek, so this image really did give me pangs of homesickness! (then i looked outside at the weather and they disappeared ;-))

Very beautiful and typical shot of the Borders countryside - composition is excellent. I have swam, fished, canoed and peed in this river...it means a lot to me!!

Hi Derek,
Wonderful capture of the undeveloped banks of this strikingly beautiful river. The colors are outstanding with the deep blue river making a sharp contrast to the lush green banks. Great depth is seen a we view the distant hills.
Regards, Tom

Hello, Derek.

Wonderful!

Wonderful colours and spot-on exposure. The reflections on that indigo-blue water are fabulous! And the textures in those trees on the right are lovely. Good composition too, with the slow, lazy curve of the river just leading us up to those distant hills.

A lovely picture!

Best Wishes,

John.

P.S. One wee point - how did you attach a Canon 18-55mm lens to your Nikon?? :o)

Lovely picture, nice contrast, well done!
Regards
Syed
