Good Morning Everone,

It is bright and sunny here in England. I hope it is as nice for you all this weekend.

Today, I am posting a shot which is a little unusual!

Last week, I went to see the Scarecrow Festival at Wray in Lancashire. As we were enjoying the sights, I couldn't help noticing this beautiful pony which was acting a little strangely. It kept opening its mouth wide and then began chewing the wooden post at the edge of the field. When I investigated, all the wooden posts had obviously been attacked in a similar manner!

I know, as a child, I used to chew liquorice sticks which were twigs from the said tree. I wonder if there was some similar flavour in this wooden post! I would be very interested if anyone could tell me more about this behaviour!

Many thanks for your visit.
I hope you enjoyed it.
Please feel free to offer feedback on any aspect of the photograph. :-)

hi beverley.

Hi Bev,
Lovely shot of this pretty pony, he looks like he is deep in though chewing on this post.
I know alot of horses do this and it is a naughty habit which should be discouraged, people will cover the posts in a tar like substance called CRIBOX which has a nasty taste so the horses wont chew the posts.
Nice and sharp and great detail.

Hi Bev,

Horse my family owned would quite often nibble on anything Bev. A good crop, natural colour and fine detail. TFS,

Hi Bev,

He is just brushing his tooth - a well behaved pony he is, and then he can give you a smile afterwards.
Funny capture!
No serious, I don't know if it taste good, when we were young we were always chewing on something that translated would be "sweet wood", maybe that was the same....

Great image. I particularly like how you managed the depth to take in all of the horse and not much more, gives the shot an added, almost 3D feel.
Nice sharpness and good job on the cloning.
Beatiful perspecitve and very effective POV.

Hi Bev,
What vivid details to this chewing horse. The eyes are soulfull and dreamy. Prehaps this fence post is serving as a tooth pick.
Lovely the stringy mane on this beauty.
