| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Hello everyone, another look at the old sawmill but this time from across the lake.
There was a pleasant, if a little bit muddy, walk around this small lake, as the three ladies in the picture will probably agree.
I realise that the mill is probably too central in the composition, but I wanted to keep the trees on the left hand side, for the colours and textures they provided.
Thamks for your visit, your comments are always welcome. |

hello Jean,
we are neighbours today! this is a nice tranquil shot but as a thumbnail it seemed washed out. I wonder if tweaking curves could help? (the answer is no, as I ave just tried it and the green looks over saturated).I can see why you would wish to keep the mill central. I always like to see trees, especially with ivy growing up the trunk (although it can't be good for them). But when I see ivy I think of the way the Pre-Raphaelite painters painted them in minute detail.
regards
Bev
Hi Jean
I don't think central placement is too much of the issue here, as much as an excess of information; yes, the colours and textures are nice, but I think there are too many elements competing for the viewer's attention, and the result is like throwing a whole lot of flavours into a dessert - it just ends up being overwhelming.
I've tried a workshop, preserving the beauty of what you've captured but focusing it down a little so that the eye doesn't have to cut through so much foliage to get its reward.

Hello Jean
Returned to have a look at what you have been posting liked this shot , can see why you kept the mill central very peacefull shot but do tend to agree with Rew it is busy, and I find the small areas of burnt out sky just a wee bit distracting
Have tried a WS for you hope you don't object
Best wishes
Kenny

Hi Jean,
I like the picture and the composition. Agree that the mill is too central but in this case do not matter as the lovely trees, the ladies and the foreground water are nicely composed and are much more interesting subjects, enhanced by the branches.
Well done
Best regards, Balwant
