The lady and her lens

Finally...here on an early Sunday morning view at sea of the Lady of the lens, better known as Silke aka Lotl. A named this picture “The lady and her lens” to make the difference of Silke’s slogan :-) BTW apparently you have to pronounce Silke as: “Silkey” :-)

Anyway we see here the brave Silke on her way to the fierce sea to baptize her tadpole; a relic received from an English magician (might be dangerous). Well Silke threw the purple balloon tadpole in to the raging waves (clearly seen in this shot) almost lost her life due the tremendous surf...and the tadpole washed ashore again. Roy, Silke’s partner knew why the baptize of the balloon was a catastrophe; it was a freshwater tadpole...

This was the start of a fine day together with Roy and Silke. Here you see the Lady of the Lens walking with a cane. Today (Thursday May 22nd) she will be in hospital for the “repair” of her knee. Wish Silke all the best and a quick recovery! She wrote me she's going to run the marathon on Sunday :-)

And finally Calamity has her Silke in her special swimsuit.

Hola Hans.
Todos los momentos son pocos para llevar la cámara fotográfica encima.

Saludos, JL.

Oh what a day! I so wanted to see this pic!! Just wonderful, very natural shot Hans! SilKEY is quickly becoming the most photographed lady on TL... LOTL (Lady On TrekLens) HAHA! And a straight horizon line? AMAZING! I had a good long talk with SilKEY yesterday... 41 minutes! I may have to take out a loan to pay my phone bill! HAHA! But it was good to hear her voice!
Thanks Hansie!

Good composed picture Hans. Hopefully you kept an eye on her.
Groeten van Jan

Hi Hans,
Thanks you for this wonderful photo!
Excellent composition with reflection. Good poses of Silke. We can see the tension when she checks with her toes if the water is cold.
Excellent colors and capture of light!
Best wishes for Lady of the Lens!
And my compliments for you, dear friend! Annie

hi hans, great composition and clarity, very nice image, funny linda posted a similar image!
take care
scott

Not only the best picture ive seen of silke yet, its beautifully composed, and kind of captures a slice of life. There's portraits, and then there are portraits like this, that involve action on the part of the subject and the photographer, to capture the action taking place. Very well done.

Excellent job with beautiful photo, wonderful colors and a very beautiful shot..
Selamlar...
Milas...

you know Hans... the more I look at this image the more I like it...
This image gives me a warm feeling.... You captured Silke in action... you captured a friend and you did a mighty fine job here.... you can actually tell that Silke does what she loves so much... and at the same time, you do, what you like doing so much... works more than one way!
An excellent tranquil image with great, realistic colors.

Cheers,
Anneke

A very nice document of your meet, Hans. Light on Silke is good, I'd perhaps crop the sky a bit lower to get the horizon off-centre.
Silke, I wish you a speedy recovery. Wait another week before running a marathon ;o))

Hi Hans,

I really like photos such as these. They really do tell a story. This is great with her cane to the side, and the waves greeting her. I like the reflections of the water on the sand too.

Terrific... One for Silke's books!

thanks for sharing, Lisa

You mentioned a tadpole - I thought she was baptising the n*k*n.
It looks like they have hazy skies in England too, Hans :) Those waves must be massive to you; she was lucky to have you there to save her.
I can imagine the laughs and smiles you all must have had over there. Sounds like a good holiday.
Best wishes to Silke today
Janice

Beautiful shot. Perfect composition, fantastic delivery - and so nice to see Silky in person. Even if only the back of her.

See, you gave us incomplete information.
It's all very decent what we see here. For sure the high surf is very dangerous, but other then that it is a great start of the day.
Hans, a lovely relaxed picture.

Hi Hans

A nice, considerate thought, by both you & Linda, for Silke's fast recovery. I hope she gets well soon, too. I like the horizontal banding, from the waves here. Good sharpness & color. Tfs!

Hi Hans,

Too risky bringing camera on slippery sand . . and with walking stick on the left hand . .
Brave Silke . .
Similar composition but different surrounding with Linda's image . .
I like this kind of composition . .

Wish Silke is getting better soon . .

Tfs,

Nice shot Hans, well composed and good colour and light. It reminds me of one trip I made across Australia. I carried a bottle of Indian Ocean water and emptied into the Pacific, collected another bottle of Pacific water and the next time I returned west did the same thing. TFS,
David

Hi Hans,
This is a beautiful image, I'm sure Silke will treasure it.
I'm presuming of course, she survuved the terrific undertow and fierce onshore currents evident in your picture.
Thank you for risking life and limb to capture such an image;)
Good luck to Silke,
Pete.
