Hello Everyone,

It's been a lovely day today, bright and sunny but very breezy! We have been out walking the banks of the canal, cameras in hand of course, and arrived back hungry, thirsty and eager to process our shots!

Yesterday, Anneke (Ejtaan) posted a shot of what grew in the pots in her garden. I thought she, and all you other Trekkers, might be interested in what grows in the pots in my garden!

This collared dove nestling lived very dangerously, settling happily in the garden pots! He was totally unaware that cats were sleeping in nearby pots! We had to hurriedly put our cats indoors and watch the progress of this little bird.

It was in no hurry to leave, preening itself, looking around, fluffing its feathers, generally have a relaxed old, time! Eventually, we persuaded it that the branches of a nearby tree might be a safer option!

I'm glad to say, I have seen it today so it has taken our advice on safety!

Many thanks for stopping by.
Please feel free to offer feedback on any aspect of the photograph. :-)

Hi Beverley
Good image within your large frame. I like the image as it is a good portrait of this bird. But with a limit on the size of our images on this site I think that your frame is far too large. However you have responded well to the challenge by Anneke (Ejtaan). Well done.
Mike

Back in Western Australia I did have a variety of dove nesting in a hanging basket, well out of harms way. Lovely colour Bev, good detail and well framed. TFS,
David

Oh It's lovely Bev,

Did you see what is growing in Ejtaan's pots??
If not, then you really should................

Every little feather is detailed - the things one can find in the garden pots (my banana plant is slowly starting to form new leafs).

TFS this funny and attractive view on "flora" in your garden.

PS Haha, that is what you get from commenting first and THEN reading the note - so you did see!

What a clear sharp shot Bev. He seems as interested in you as you were in him. I am very pleased that he was able to get away from Wanda’s watch full eye’s. I am sure she would have scared him. Love the beak here, it is perfectly shown and every detail amazing. A truly great capture.
Warm Regards
Wanda

Hi Bev,
Wonderful razor sharp details to this fine backyard capture. Excellent closeup of his eye and that wonderfully gnarly beak.
Regards, Tom

Hi Carol
You are right they are careless and their runaway take off is not as fast as the other birds.
I really like the photo, you did a good capture, nice and sharp

hello Beverley,
what a lovely shot. We have collared doves in our garden too, but not in the pots! I did photograph a frog on a pot in a garden nursery place that I like to visit but he hopped away.Your picture is nice and sharp with soft light too. Well done.

Bev
