Curlew (Numenius arquata)

| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
This is one of a breeding pair of Curlew at a location on Dartmoor, it's the first time I have seen them this year though, I have been told that they are nesting so hopefully some chicks will be about soon, this location in the past has also been a nesting ground for Green Plover or Lapwing but unfortunately their nests have been attacked in the past by rooks and they have all disapeared.
Thanks to all who view and comment on my pictures.

hi andy.
i love this bird.
it has a great call and an amazing beak.
this is a nice image but unfortunately has lost its 'edge' due to the cropping.

Hi Andy, we have a variety of these that breed down here (Numenius Madagascariensis), I feel the common name is far easier :). Good colour and light and well cropped to bring the bird closer. TFS,
David
excellent capture andy,
they dont stay still for long, good detail and the crop brings bird closer with no real loss of clarity...
plenty of them around here, go around in flocks of 20 or so...

Hi Andy,
Interesting bird, you must feel privileged to get so near.
You mention you the distance, but you still managed to get the detail in the bird's plumage very well.
Cheers,
Pete.
Hi Andy
A good capture here. Despite being quite far from the bird, you have still managed to capture the markings on it.
