Good morning peeps

Todays image is the second in a small series I captured at Cosgrove on Saturday. This image shows both parents of this little brood marching in unison whilst guarding thier young brood. They just need some nice tall hats and a couple of rifles slung over thier shoulders and they would totally look the part!

It was interesting to see that the younger goslings with thier yellowy down remain with thier natural parents but as they start to loose the yellow colour and turn grey it seems that everyone chips in and all the young ones join up in a huge nursery that are cared for by about 6-8 adult.

If you look through the greenery you can just see the brown muddy waters of the river behind. Normally a gentle flowing river with clear waters, however torrential rains and flood have lifted the levels and made the waters run in a more agressive manner lifting and moving the silt with the flow.

As yesterdays capture was cropped a little tight (not easy to get these little familys to remain close together for the portrait work) I decided to run a drop shadow on the bottom right of the image to extend the colour a little and add more space to the image. I think it works ok and might be worth remembering for future use when lack of space is an issue.

Ok work calling so I must get on.

TTFN I hope you had a nice weekend

regards Smurfie

P.S. Did you notice that the cheeky chick at the back is doing the opposite to all the others as he was in yesterdays posting!

hi Helen, great shot, very nice composition and details, you're right about the crop, this one gives them more room to walk and also it has both parents, the other one is nice too though specially because of the marching goslings

Bonsoir Helen,

Well Helen,

You had no choise if you wanted to include the young ones, so there is no more space available.
And standing further back does not work either, because then it is going to resemble my holiday pictures from way back, where somewhere in the BG you can see some animals ^-^.
Funny and attractive.
