We made a little side trip to Trawden one day and met TL members Bev and Len Robinson (Royal Devon and lennoland).

It was a fabulous day and I have to tell you the side trip was well worth it. Next time, I shall see what I can do to wangle an invitation for a whole day! Superb people, fabulous countryside and delightful hospitality.

Len showed off his prize possession (to which I added a fun licence plate)

captured in raw, converted to jpg, resized, framed and signed.

Please note that this had to be heavily compressed (to medium quality, 7/12 of the original) so I welcome any suggestions on how to resize to TL specs without losing that much quality

I just love this car and the license plate is really cool on this one! What a way to travel! Your pics of this trip have been a lot of fun to see. You did a great job with the shadows in this shot, and I like the man in motion here, rather than posed. Now you would have to move the seat WAY back for me to sit in there!..and then get a crow bar to get me out! LOL! Nice work!
B-)

Hi Silke,
The image at it self is fine, you always lose quality when resizing, I don’t think you can prevent that due the size and compression limitations on TL. The picture is crisp and clear, excellent sharpness and a well balanced brightness and contrast. I'm less cheerful about the composition. Len getting out of his car looks a bit clumsy and I think if you had waited a few more seconds or let him pose at his beautiful car, it would have looked much better. Well that are my 2 € cents :-) Anyway still a fine posting!
Hans

I'm not that envious, Silke, though a Toyota MR is a prize possession indeed (a "price" possession too btw).
I like the compo and the way you captured how Len comes out of that sportscar. The lighting conditions gave your meter a hard time here, I guess: the wall behind Len is quite overexposed. I tried to tackle that in a little ws.
One way to be able to save in a higher quality would be to crop more from the pebbles and a wee bit from the top. Perhaps a wee bit from the left hand side as well, though that wouldn't gain you much bytes.

Hi Silke
I love the car ;)
The photo is lovely and very well framed.
Excellent as usual.

Red like a reall Ferrari, enen the way to come out is almost same. haha
Think I better stick to my Black Kia Sportage, Silke.
But, you captured it well.
Jan

Hello Silke :o)

Wow ! Very great car ! Looks like a Ferrari ;) Thanks for showing us other members, i'm happy to 'meet' virtually Len. A nice smile for a great shot.

Marylou ;)

Really cool capture silke. The car is awesome, what car is that?

And im guessing the plate says "a trekker to envy"?

Hiya Silke

An excellent shot here, nice and sharp with good detail and the proud owner departing the vehicle. Love the PP worked registration plate and your framing enhances the shot perfectly

TFS regards Helen

Good work on the plate Silke, I envy many cars :). Nice light, well composed and good colour. I think your compression problms were a combination of colours and detail. TFS,
David

Great shot of this lovely automobile Silke.
I love the reflections on the hood, and the bits of lights through the shadows.
Well preseneted. TFS.

Hi Silke,
This is a very bright photo with a wonderful car and a man who seems so shy!
I don't think that your photo have a lack of quality due to the compression. The RAW format are so big. I already read, and I make that, it must to compress just with 400 at 500 kb at each time, save as... and continue until 800 kb. Just a bit longer, but I think that is make a difference.
This photo is a nice memory for you. Thanks to share it with us. Bravo! Annie

Ps! Update. I changed ko for kb for a better translation!

well captured moments Silke, actually this one is sharp and vivid, resizing normally takes out quality , but coming from RAW to jpeg, you will not lose much. this one looks fine to me.
regards.............andres

hi silke, cant help you with resizing but one thing i really love is the red in this photo, it is so vibrant, good details too,
tfs,
scott

Well, My Friend,

I think it's a great shot! It's very well composed, you've dealt with the light extremely well (considering that we don't get too much of such lovely strong sunshine), the image is sharp (well maybe an odd wrinkle) and the bright red of the car makes a strong focal point. (He didn't leave it out too long, fading possibilities, you know!)
I like the way you have the fence and the bushes framing the shot naturally.

Len is delighted, if a little shy, about being on public show.

You know, you are welcome back any time!

Kindest regards,
Bev :-)

pl :-)

Nice capture of the shadows relection.

Okay Silke, had to read that license plate 2 times, but yes I got it.
How lovely is that - visiting Bev and Len.
What I NV are those stone walls, find them extremely attractive, hard to find them here in Holland.

Lovely picture and great memorie.

Els

LOL!!! Excellent.
Wonderful capture.
Excellent sharpness and details considering the compression.

Hi Silke, You have a lot of fun in your character. The guy looks very proud of this beautiful car. Red as wll make it go faster too! The details are still very acceptable after compression. It is good you have learned to take RAW photos as that is what professional use i heard. TFS. Murray.
