Latin name
Turdus merula

Family
Chats and thrushes (Turdidae)

Overview
The males live up to their name but, confusingly, females are brown often with spots and streaks on their breasts. The bright orange-yellow beak and eye-ring make adult male blackbirds one of the most striking garden birds. One of the commonest UK birds, its mellow song is also a favourite.

Where to see them
Found everywhere in gardens and countryside and from coasts to hills, although not on the highest peaks.

When to see them
All year round.

What they eat
Insects, worms and berries.

I do like this photo , it is well in focus and well lit also, maybe a bit too much, I would maybe add a bit of curve to add dimension to it, it seems flat.

Olá Andy,
Very interesting pic. The bird is perfectly sharp. Good colors and details. Good composition with the bird in diagonal position. Only fault is the BG multicolored, but non disturbing.

Hi Andy
Perfect sharp shot with good dof.
But with that lens, no problem, right ?

Hello Andy,
Common enough bird, but you always seem to manage to get the best out of them, this one being no exception (I like the little 'goatie' on its chin).
Nice DOF and clarity of the bird, although I can just see a line around the bird's outline, and wonder if the sharpening was just a tiny bit to much (but you already know that this is my hobby horse).
Well done, another nice one.
Regards,
Mike
