hello John,
this is a nicely exposed picture of what looks like a dog rose (wild rose) If its in your garden its probably growing from a rootstock on which a fancier garden rose has been grafted. Gardeners usually get the secateurs to them! I think you could have done something more conpositionally here. It is too central for me. I'll maybe try a workshop and post it later....done!
