Hi,

I took a series of shots of these roofs which are just around the corner from my house on Waterside, Knaresborough. They are typical roofs on houses and farm buildings in North Yorkshire, and indeed throughout rural areas of the UK. They are made from clay and shaped to interlock and provide a cheap means of roofing buildings. The roof in the background however, is slightly different as it is roofed in small stone tiles, which by comparison are a very expensive way of roofing a building. No prizes then for guessing which building is the desirable waterfront dwelling:).

I like the pantiles as they provide great variety in colour, shape, shadow and texture.

Hope you like the image,

Regards,

John
