The window you see here overlooks the sacred spring which feeds the ancient Roman Baths in Bath England.
The geothermically heated water bubbles up here at temperatures that range between 64°C (147.2°F) and 96°C (204.8°F).

The first shrine was built by the Celts and dedicated to the goddess Sulis. The Romans took it over when they invaded and rededicated it to Minerva in about 60-70 A.D. (CE).

The baths and temples have been destroyed several times due to "health" and religious concerns.
What you see here is an excavated portion of the massive Roman complex, this one being the "holy of holies." The stone is discoloured by the minerals in the water and you can see here the various water levels.

Captured in RAW through the glass of the windows opposite the one you see in the image.
It is framed by the buttress of the wall behind which I am standing.
Adjustments were made in raw, converted to jpg, some curves adjustments, then resized, sharpened (by 50%), framed and signed
Thanks for looking and have a wonderful day and weekend

I sure hope you got a chance to get this pic to this couple! How cool! I love shots like this, people unaware, just going about their lives~! There is a slight tilt to the shot, maybe it's my trifocals! Other than that it's adorable!
B-)

Great one Silke, no shortage of historical buildings in England.
Lovely how that couple is enjoying the view through your window - very relaxing.

Hi Silke

I like the high key toned exposure. The couple at right framed by the window add a nice human element. Tfs!

Hello Silke,

The whole setting is romantic but made just wonderful by the young couple!
Superb!

Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Hi Silke,
Nice photo,nice colors.

Hi Silke,

The pastel colors of the stones and water are just beautiful. I like how the couple is off to the side of the window. Are you sure you weren't giving them hand signals to move to the side? ;)

This photo just makes one relax while viewing.
It's a great addition to the theme. Lisa

Old and young - The building and the couple. Interesting note. Very original/creative. TFS

Hello Silke
I think the couple really adds to your window! I love seeing the colors left by the water levels.. Its amazing how deep it once was! Perfect for the theme.. I wonder if your post will be the oldest window! :)

Bonjour Silke,
Une architecture qui me fait penser à la cure thermale où mes deux enfants ont été soignés, il y a de ça plusieurs années!
Bien vu

Hi Silke,
Beautiful pastel colors for this old architecture!
Usually these old stones are gray! It is very pleasant to see the couple so well framed!
Excellent presentation so appropriated for the theme! Bravo! Annie

Interesting capture.
Good sharpness and details.
Love the history you can imagine with the site.

I like the way the minerals have left layers of different colours in the stonework over the centuries. Nicely composed Silke, the light well handled and the addition of the human presence just delightful. TFS,
David

The colored stone is very pretty and I like the step as well. Such a romantic little window. Did these two people get a copy of the picture? An interesting and informative note, and a very beautiful picture!

Hello Silke

What a delightful POV, lovely warm sunny image with good detail and a pretty looking spring. Who would have thought this was shot in rainy England lol

TFS and for joining in the theme

regards Helen

Silke, I agree with Linda about the apparent tilt. Though the walls you use as a border are level, the central vertical is not. PS measured a 1.93 ° ccw tilt on that line.
Exposure on the couple (which have nice poses, a very relaxing sight in that window) is spot on, the wall is a bit OE to my liking. I tried to tackle my nit-picks in a quick ws.

Thanks for the wonderful critique on "WEDDING S2".

Hi Silke,
Lovely colours in the ancient stonework,it is in amazingly good nick for the age.
Did the baths smell of sulphur like the ones here in Rotorua NZ?
A fine addition to the theme.
I do hope your knee is getting better.
Pete.
