Ramsay Gardens were originally designed as student flats but are now some of the most exclusive flats in Edinburgh with a price tag of over £1M.

They are situatued next to Edinburgh Castle on the Royal Mile, I took this picture looking up to the Castle from Princess Street Gardens.

Just to the right of centre is Goose Pie House, which was the first to be built here in around 1740, named this from the eight sided shape, like a pie tin.

The Royal Mile.
The largest, longest and finest street for Buildings and Number of Inhabitants, not only in Britain, but in the World..."
(Daniel Defoe, 1723)

Using Paint Shop Pro.
Cropped the image.
Added the sky from another image.
Removed scafolding using the clone brush.
Resized for TL.

Have added the unedited version as workshop.

TFS!

Hi Derek,

Nothing but charm in this photo. Every place seems to have it's own style, design, and personality. Just loaded with a character of their own. I can see how this would be a beautiful place to live as it is gorgeous!!

Nice composition with the greenery in the foreground, bit in back too.

thanks for sharing, Lisa

Hello Derek, a beautiful set of buildings with so much variety, not only in the shapes of the different parts but as you have so aptly observed in the many beautiful windows.
The rule of thirds works very well for this sharp and colourful picture, tfs.
Regards Jean.

Nice photo with excellent PP work. The building combines different traditional architectural styles as evidenced by different shaped towers with modern touches. I bet the interior of the building is beautiful and tastefully made. Cheers.

Excellent view, very good capture of the subtle integration of architecture with the natural landscape. It really looks inviting, no wonder it is so expensive!

Congratulations,
Romeu

nicely presented and grt detail in this shot well done

Hi Derek,

This looks almost like a storybook illustration. A sure would have liked to be a student and be able to live in a place like this. I totally missed this place when we visited Edinburgh, but then we only had one day.
I have been scrolling up and down several times - yes really like this picture - and of course all those windows....
