This is my contribution for Helen's "Window(s)" theme this week. I never had much time to get out to hunt out some nice pictures of church windows, so I came up with this idea.

We have all heard that the eyes are supposed to be the "windows of the soul" but the origins of the phrase seem obscure. However, I found in Matthew 6:21-22: "The lamp of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is the darkness!" Very true.

Picture taken of a willing subject looking out of a window and taken using natural light with my macro lens. Shot in RAW, this was the best of a few dozen images. Converted and edited in PSE6.

picture of the day!!!

Hello John,

This is a fantastic idea, and superbly achieved. The lashes in the top R. corner neatly balance the pink of the eyelid below

Beautiful blue of the iris, with all those swirly patterns. When iris recognition comes in we shall all have to submit to this treatment.

Do you remember the Hitchcock film "Strangers on a Train", where the fairground scene of the girl's murder is shot as a reflection in the victim's eye?

Regards,

Peter.

hello John,
an impressively creative contribution to the theme. Your composition is spot on. The pupil is sligly off centre and the window reflection is in just the right place within the frame. Gorgeous blue eye(s)...bet they've sent a few hearts a-flutter.

Great idea John - I had this in mind too, but couldn't find a good 'eye' to work on!!
I do like how the outside greenery is showing up in the window. And your quote from the bible works in perfectly,

Fantastic idea and excellent work!
I love it!
10 points!!!!!!!
Best regards!

Great macro !! Very interesting and creative idea, which fit perfect for the theme.
Congratulations
Mario

And it is a good idea, more than just taking a window shot, you use the theme to make a reflection and give to us a very original abstract picture.

Well done.

What an wonderful interpretation of the theme !

thanks,

Hi John,
I like the idea here, beautiful macro shot.I can see the detail of the window in this eye.Its also like a painting.Nice touch my friend.Great addition to the theme.

CM

Outstanding image, John. The details of the eye and its electric color are quite striking. I also like the fact that the window reflection is clear enough to see some detail of what is happening outside (looks a person lifting something?). Touch to choose between showing the entire circle of the iris or cutting off portions with the frame as you have done -- would have like to see it all, but that is subjective preference, nothing at all wrong with how you did it. Nice work.

Hello John,

Great idea for the theme and very difficult to execute!

Thank goodness it was only a window that was revealed looking into this person's soul!

Kind regards,
Bev :-)

I'll be back :-)

Hello John, when I first saw the theme for today I thought about the same words as your title.Your interpretation is perfect.I could not have shot such a fine picture.
The eye is wonderful with the bonus of the reflected window, superb.
Tfs, regards Jean.
