Fruit Pudding?
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Well, no, actually it's not a fruit pudding at all. But the central bit will eventually become the "fruit" or seed-pod of this flower.
This is a close-up I took of the central part of an Oriental Poppy (Papaver Orientale) in our front garden a few days ago. I took it at the very same time I took this one.
Taken hand-held with my macro lens using available light. Thankfully, there was very little breeze, so I increased the ISO to 400 and shot away with quite a fast shutter speed.
I really wanted to get a nice shot of a bee on it. There were lots of big bumble bees hovering around these flowers, but they always seemed to be attracted to go down the outsides of the stamens rather than sit on the nice little pedestal in the middle!
Shot in RAW and converted and edited in PSE6.

John,
The details in this shot are wonderful. Very nice extreme macro shot. Well done.
Regards,
Kevin
Hello John,
A fantastic shot - I was going to say a bee's eye view, but of course with their compound eyes with many lenses, their view must be entirely different.
The side lighting has thrown interesting shadows across that central "pudding", and your macro lens shows amazing sharp detail.
I know nothing about macro lenses - in a shot like this, how far away is the front of this lens from the flower itself?
Beautiful!
Regards,
Peter.
