[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I have tried to get this picture for almost a year, and now, less than a week before we leave the island, I've finally managed it. If I walk across the road from our house and look south, this is view that I see. These are the mountains of Harris, the tallest of which is An Clisham, the highest point in the western isles. Because they are so far away and the air is so wet, they usually appear as little more than an outline on the horizon, so to get such good lighting has taken alot of trying and patience.

I took 13 separate images, which have been stitched together and then cropped down. However, the contrast was too low and so I had to make two sets of conversions from the original raw files, then two panoramas, one developed for the mountains, the other for the foreground. These were then blended together from two layers using a layer mask in the gimp. Finally, I adjusted the levels and sharpened.

Once we move house, this one is being printed and put on the wall of my office!

Hi David,
Excellent scenery! A pity leaving such wonderful views...TFS, Marta

Beautiful landscape, what a splendid view from your street. Great lighting and very good pp work to get the exposure right.

David

Beautal papanorama landscape.

Nicely executed David and well done on the stitching. Good colour and light and nice detail. The larger version may have benefitted from a bit of noise reduction but still wonderful work.
David
