You can Sit on a Rose...........
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
My Mother used to recite a little poem to me many years ago:
"You can sit on a rose in sweet repose,
You can sit on a shamrock and whistle:
But ye'll no sit doon
Wi' oot gi'en a froon
If ye sit on oor ain Scots thistle!"
Curiously, no mention was made of sitting on a leek!
Picture shot contre jour in quite strong sunlight. Taken in RAW and converted and edited in PSE6.

hi john.
this is, truly, the flo'er o scotland.
i like the backlighting on this. it has given the thistle more menace.
'The thistle is bonny,
when it stands all alone.
But wha' dares tae meddle,
shall be cut tae the bone'
Wha's like us.......?
Brian
ps.
if you were to sit on a leek you would get a wet bum!!!!!
Hello John,
Beautiful contre-jour lighting to show all the whiskers on the stems, and the spikes on the leaves. The thistle stands out sharply and clearly against the dark BG.
There's a wealth of material in our own gardens to photograph, so I suppose we should never run out of images.
Regards,
Peter
