This on I dedicate to Lisa (Lisapw1) who hope to go up in a BiPlane soon.
This is another from the Airday at RNAS Yeovilton (HMS Heron) this time it's Team Guinot X 2 with the wing walkers, due to the wind they were unable to land at Yeovilton for the girls to get onto the wing so they had to climb up whilst in the air (Brave or Stupid?) they managed a good display despite the wind and managed to climb back into the plane safely before heading for home.

Thanks to all who view and comment on my pictures.

Team Guinot is the world's only formation Wing-walking Team using four Boeing Stearman aircraft, and are based at Rendcomb in Gloucestershire. Previously known as the Utterly Butterly Wing-walking Display Team and before that as the Crunchie Wing-walking Display Team they now have a new sponsor for 2007 with Guinot cosmetics. The aircraft remain the same but are now painted in the Guinot sponsored colours.
The aircraft display a breathtaking sequence of loops, rolls and turns while wingwalkers wave and perform handstands against 150mph wind pressure. The wingwalkers also get back into the cockpit after their display while the aircraft is still in flight.

HISTORY
Wingwalking dates from the romantic era after the First World War when young pilots returned home exhilarated from their adventures in the sky, keen to earn a living in the clouds. These daring heroes purchased surplus war biplanes cheaply and travelled the country captivating civilians with the opportunity of flying, landing in fields and charging locals for their first taste of flight. To capture the imagination of potential customers the pilots flew down the main street of each town at low level and persuaded girlfriends and engineers to climb out along the wing of their aircraft.
Now over 80 years later, the Team Guinot pilots are celebrating the passion of those early adventurers. Pulling up to 4G (4 times their own body weight) they loop, roll and turn the biplanes through the sky with deliciously daring wingwalkers waving and performing handstands on the wing against 150 mph wind pressure!

Hi Andy,
You did a fine job here, the detail is as good as it gets. Nice to see an aeroplanes prop spinning. It gives me the horrors when I see a stopped prop, it can only lead to one thing...a sweaty pilot;)
Cheers,
Pete.

Olá Andy,
Great job here. An awesome shot, very well done
Bravo
Raimundo

Hi Andy,
Very good choice of optimum shutter speed to photograph the biplane with excellent clarity and sharpness but still capturing the motion of its propeller. Very nice shot.
Regards,
Ramdan.

Excellent work to get such a decent, well focused and clear shot. detail is spot on, colouration is excellent. very good work... regards h

Hi Andy,
Great shot, nice sharp detail and good colours.
I saw these girls perform at the 2006 RIAT when they were the Utterly Butterlys they must be mad, I love flying but the thought of getting out while in the air and strapping yourself to a small frame on the top wing well that makes my stomach turn just thinking about it.

Andy, this is an absolute cracker, crystal clear and beautifully composed, well done! A good note as usual.
Best regards, Les

OH MY GOSH!!! I love it! What an awesome point of view Andy! I like the red and white against the gray sky. Smoke adds a lot to the image too.

My ride has been canceled twice because of the weather! :( I'm watching the weather as it's almost too hot in the afternoon to fly. (for me anyway). Don't know how the wing walker does it. I'd be shaking like a leaf!

I appreciate the photo Andy! Thanks so much, Lisa

If the choice is between brave and stupid, my vote is for stupid. But fun to watch and photograph. Amazing capture Andy. Conposition, clarity, and colors spot on.

I have posted aBoeing Stearman in the last couple of days if you are interested. It is on the ground at a Fly-In.

Thanks for the recent visit.

Andy, this is a stunning capture. Razor-sharp, well exposed, the acrobat on the wingtop is stunning, though partially obscured by the propeller. The play of light on the smoke is terrific.
