Good afternoon peeps.

I decided to try something very different with this shot. The BG was quite bland as the water was a disgusting colour due to the recent floods.

Using Photofiltre I seleted an oval shape, then inverted the selection and colour picked 3 shades from the sawn. Then using the magic wand i randomly selected colour sections in the water and flood filled them. This then carried the water through to the frame but created different colours. I then ran a blur frame round the oval and a 3D frame round the outer edge.

I quite like the result and am going to try this on other shots but I think that water ripples are probaly one of the bests mediums for this style.

I guess your either going to love this or hate it but either way I am interested to know what you think of my new Arty Farty style frame.

TTFN I hope your all having a good weekend. Its joyful in my house as Hamilton has just crossed the start/finish line to win the British Grand Prix. Sadly the last to be run at Silverstone which is just 30 mins drive from where I live (or ten mins of your Lewis Hamilton lol)

Hello,

Génial ce cygne comme dans un moroir, l'effet est superbe avec ces gouttes d'eau, mangigique.

Bravoe t amitiés

Nicou

Hi Helen,

Personally, I like this very much. Since discovering photofiltre, I have started to appreciate modern and abstract art more and more each day! LOL.

You matched perfectly the orange from the beak. I like how the water flows (pardon the pun) from the swan to the outer edges. Very cool shot. In the U.S. there is a card company that makes "Artsy Fartsy" cards. I think you're on to something here..... I will copy, paste and print your note for reference

Helen, tut tut, such language!!! unusual and original composition, good swan image.

Very 'arty farty' indeed, but very nicely done Helen.. Haven't decided if I actually like the frame or not - but it's good work and well finished - the swan's nice and sharp too.
Regards
David

Good PP work and the abstract shapes of the frame since they are harmonized with the colors in the swan look good. Great experimentation to change a mundane shot into a interesting one.

Hi Helen,
Very interesting frame work but I like it because it's different. I like the different colors of the water in BG. The swan is well positioned in the frame. Nice work Helen.
Regards,
Kevin

Gets 2 arty farty points from us ;~)

Hi Smurfie,
Nice work, the pp on the water makes it look like a piece of marble, nice portrait of the swan with nice detail and colour.

Wasn't the GP good? there is one more GP next year at Silverstone before the move to Donnington in 2010.

Well done
Regards Andy

While I really like your framing here, Helen I must admit that I am not so keen on the colours in the frame.
Great capture, superb composition, fine details

Well, it's different Helen!! Maybe another colour might make it look better (to me) but the idea is good.
Good PP actions - you're doing well with PhotoFiltre.

Good morning to an Hard Working Lady.
Excellent job you did on this swan picture, dear Helen.
Complements from Jan

Hi Helen, I love this one, superb PP work and it was also a top class photo to start with! I reckon that was Lewis's best race to date, he showed real class in the wet. I wish we could have a wet race here in Bahrain, that would really be something seeing as we have only had three short showers since January 1st!
Best regards, Les
