Hello Everyone,

My contribution for today’s theme is an illustration of what happened at the weekend.

It was the annual Garden and Scarecrow Festival in the village, an event which takes a great deal of preparation and is a wonderful event.

Friday was bright and beautiful as all the scarecrows were assembled for judging, and all the signs for open gardens were put in place. Great anticipation for the weekend!

Saturday dawned grey and misty. Saturday turned into a thunderstorm medley! Saturday was a great washout! Sunday followed a similar pattern with a just few pockets of sunshine. During one of these, I rushed out to visit some gardens and snapped whatever I could! This is the explanation for the rain droplets!

I chose this osteospernum because it was standing proudly amidst a mass of orange poppies and looked so distinctive.

Many thanks for stopping by.
Please feel free to offer feedback on any aspect of the photograph.

pp cropped, isolated the flower, removed the colour from the b/g with desaturation, sharpened, framed and signed

Hi Beverley...
Beautiful work...
Nice composition...
Have a nice day...

Good morning Bev

What a shame the weather was so bad my friend. However you did amazingly well with this one and the rain did you a favour here too I think. Perfect DOF and a delightful and effective POV for detsat work. Nicely positioned in the frame with good detail and very neat framing that suits this style well.

TFS and for joining in the theme

kind regards Helen

Hi Bev,

I really like this image, it is very strong. Good compo and the bg is nicely defused. The flower is really sharpe with great colour and the beads of water are wonderful and add a great feeling to the pic. And the desaturation adds real strenght to your image. It really makes the flower stand out,a nd I think that is what this exercise is all about.

Well done and TFS,

John

A beautiful presentation of this osteospermum against a very nicely desaturated and out-of-focus background. Sharp and clear with nice soft colours too.

Excellent!

Hi Beverley,
Super image, the detail and sharpness of the flower contrasts with that lovely soft focus background.
I do like the subdued colour of the flower, I'm glad you weren't tempted to oversaturate it.

HI Bev
I think I took a snap of the same flower, I did have to stretch quite a lot to get accross the pond.
The flower stands proud and tall against the desaturated background, the water drops a plus to enhance it.
Well done
Dot

Beautiful purple flower, very nice presentation!

A most effective presentation of this beautiful osteospernum, Bev. The desaturation of the environment certainly makes the flowers colours come out well. Thai raind drops make it look all the more precious to me. Have a good weekend! - Cordelia
