macro shot of the inside of a poppy, one of my favorite flowers. i was experimenting with the frame effect to give it a softness.

Macro photography is a term used for close up photos. It is a term applied to most close up photos but should actually only be applied to photos which have a 1:1 or closer magnification.

a tip i found somewhere as another way to achieve good macro capability, is to reverse one lens onto the front of another lens. So if you already have a decent 200mm lens and a decent 50mm lens, you could fix the 50mm onto the front of the 200mm with the filter threads facing each other to give a 4:1 magnification ratio which is very high, but the possibilities with this type of arrangement are very good as different combinations can be used to achieve different results.

i have not tried it as yet if you have do tell me the results.

Very interesting effect of frame!
Excellent done!
Best regards!

Hi Sue. Good macro, Excellent sharpness and colours of the main subject and creative framing. I have never tried the "reverse lens" method of macro so can't help you there. I have recently seen some very good macro shots in T.L. made using a binocular lens taped to the front of the camera lens. Thanks for sharing.

Regards Phil.

Amazing macro Sue the detail is just awsome. Beautiful colours and well presented.

Regards Mark :)

dear Sue,
a fantastic inner space of poppy flower. like another world or illusionary space. beautiful depth by focusing. and lighting is soft and mellow.

double lens method and reverse lens method, and glass-ball lens or pin-hall lens etc. these are known and some photographers have tried those and results are very interesting. but recent macro lens are very excellent to take fully atmosphric close up shot.

best regards,
Akihisa
