[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This week’s Friday theme was a bit of a challenge. I tried various fresh shots (flowers and other things in combination with a paintbrush) but wasn’t happy with any of them.
So I dipped into my archived antique car folder for this colourful beauty. It was captured at Classic Cars on the Prom, a fantastic free antique car show held every summer Sunday afternoon in Bournemouth.

Tech: 1) Adjusted levels, 2) selected car using wand and lasso tools, 3) inverted selection, desaturated, 4) applied smart blur filter, 5) inverted selection again and increased overall saturation and then additional increase of red saturation, 6) resized, sharpened edges only, 7) cloned out the heads of two people looking at the car behind my subject, 8) framed and signed, 9) applied warming filter to the whole for a more antique feeling and 10) finally increased luminance

Thanks for looking and for all your critiques, workshops and suggestions. Have a snap-happy weekend.

I just love this one Silke! I love old cars etc. You and I both picked vehicles today, great minds think alike! Love the antique look to this beauty! I would like this car to drive around, wouldn’t that be fine? Your pp work on this is superb as always! Super sharpness, love how the sun shines on it!

Truly exceptional ! Iliked very much the sepia tone for a part giving to your photography an old aspect with this old car. A great idea for me.

When I was young, some of my friends had one like this.
I kept it easier, sniff.!

Hi Silke,
A well done job . Nice details, I can see flowers in the car . This old cadillac was probably used for a wedding . Your picture reminds me the song Pink Cadillac .

Hello Silke
I love the pinks here.. Oh the car is really nice! Great idea I must say.. The car really jumps off the page!

Tricia

Hi Silke,

I really like the pink car! Perhaps this was Mary Kay's first? LOL. The choice of your sepia is interesting. Quite a bit of post processing work. Your background almost seems to have a hint of burgundy coloring to it as if it is from the same color scale as the pink. Am I just seeing things? :D

Hi Silke,I like the full frame of the car, there is no doubt as to what the subject matter is,thought you had cloned something from the back of it,& the warming filter adds a nice warmth.

Hi Silke,
This is really a "classic" image. Perfect how you captured this pink machine. Great one for the theme!
Hans

It was really brilliant your idea to combine the sepia tone with desaturation. I will have in mind for later. This combined efect plus the pink tone of the car, is stunning, very eye cathing. Thanks for the useful note.

As always well thought out and presented Silke. I love the colour and your desaturation work is wonderful. I like where the flowers in the back window are position in the image so that I keep coming to them. Wonderful detail and a good addition to the theme.

Hello Silke!
Great one for Firdays rheme!
Excellent tones in your picture! Beautiful car!
Great perspective!
Best regards!
Lili

I love what you did here, Silke! Most of the pictures I've seen, posted on the theme, had a b&w background. Desaturation goes more towards sepia, and this is what we see here! Great combination with the pink of the car!
Congrats and tfs!
Diana

Hello Silke

A lovely capture here of this old classic vehicle, a good angle for the shot with good contrast and superb PP work. I like the warming effect here I think that works better with the pink car than plain greyscale.

TFS and for joining in the theme

Kind regards Helen

Hi Silke,

hello Silke,
I wasn't here for the desat theme but I can see that I have missed at least one good'un. You have done a fine job here. I am notusually a car person but I rather like ypour "Lady Penelope" pink number. Well comp with an attractive luminosity.
Bevosed

Great work Silke ! Superb addition to this theme.
Good note, thanks for your explanation.
I like this type of cars. Don't have enough room .... else I would surely own one.
greetings,
Joop!

Oh Silke, how I wished that I could pick this car up out of the picture.
Our daughter is going to be married on August 8 and when I tried to rent such a car, they were already rented out for that special day more then a year ago, so no such luck.
In the 40's and 50's they made the B&W pictures and then painted in the colours - this could have been one of those pictures.

TFS
Els

Missed this Beauty .

Quite surprising to see a Pink Cadillac in England ! Love the treatment you have made here. The car is really popping out . Good cloning job too.
Cheers!
Robert
