Hi Everyone. Another infrared shot from last weekend. Lichfield Cathedral from Minster Pool.

Today I thought I would expel a couple of the myths that exist about infrared potography.

Myth 1. The Infrared frame counter in my F65 would fog up the film. Wrong, I have underexposed, overexposed but no fogging at all. I contacted Nikon U.K. who told me "Film fogging you will experience with an AF body occurs mostly along the sprocket holes and should not be visible on the actual frame".

Myth 2. If the camera pressure plate is dimpled the dimples will imprint on the film, my F65 has a dimpled pressure plate. Wrong, I have carefully inspected all 70+ exposures and no sign of imprints at all.

Go on give infrared a try, dig out your old film camera. Spend £15 on a infrared filter, £6 on a roll of film and £6 getting the film developed. Have a break from digital, you could surprise yourself with the results and pleasure you get.

P.P. Spot Heal an out of focus Duck, reduce and frame for T.L.

Thanks for looking. Regards Phil

Hi Philip
Liked the mystique ambiance about the place.
Good work,
Vicky

The effect is brilliant, the image has a genuine aged feel about it and the subject matter only compliments this.
