Good morning Peeps

Yes indeed another very strange title this morning.

Yesterday I spent the day at Blenheim Palace, what an amazing place!

I was stood on a small bridge with my back to to large cascading water fall. I turned slightly and out of the corner of my eye I saw what I thought looked like a small dinosaur run very quickly across the top of the falls. I fancied I was in Jurassic park and the beast was a young Velociraptor.. yes indeed Smurfie is loosing the plot.

I only had a very fleeting glance and most intrigued I turned around to wait and see if the beast returned. Imagine my delight when this stunning Heron decided to show himself again and proudly sit in charge at the top of the falls. He seemed to almost love the attention and sat for a good 15 minutes catching whatever he could as the force of the water tumbled life over the edge.

Most of his catches were really tiny and not discernable to the eye. This large dragonfly however was determined to fly off but the Herons beak held it tight before he devoured this crunchy morsel!

I hope you all had a fantastic weekend. Monday morning has yet again arrived too quickly here!

TTFN and have a great day.

regards Smurfie

Isn't it exciting when you see these birds? And how good of him to let you take photos for 15 minutes. Your timing was right, Helen, with the dragonfly - I think I can even see a piece dropping pout of his mouth
Well done
Janice

Hi Helen,
Funny for some reason, without knowing what you have posted today I posted a heron too :-) (there's more between heaven and earth....) Anyway a great action shot of this Velociraptor on the hunt with it's prey. Good catch maam :-)

He is really stunning Helen. Your timing was perfect and the dragon fly in his mouth really impressive. I like the speed used and the DOF is the right one to bring us to the heron then find the falls after. Just stunning. I hope the rest of your week is as good as your Sunday.
Warm Regards
Wanda

Hello Helen,a beautiful shot of the heron, the pose is so typical.Amazing sharpness,we can see the dragonfly clearly.
The cascade of water contrasts well with the dark green of the bg trees.
Your notes are always entertaining.

Hi Helen,

if dragonfly is the fastest flying insect, then this bird must faster in catching the insect...and you are faster than the bird in capturing her action! :)

superb clarity & sharpness on the bird. what's on the tip of the beak confirms the title. well done!
