Looking Down the Road

This is another of my shots from the Isle of Skye. This was on the inner coast as we had to head back down from Dun Ringle Castle. Capturing the mood and skies of Scotland presents a challenge with every shot. Every minute they seem to change. The unfortunate thing in Scotland is that when you go up one of these single track roads, you have to come back down. As you can see there are no guard rails. The way you meet a car here is to pull into passing spots, if yours is the closest, flash your lights and let the guy that is not near one, proceed.
The driving in Scotland was a bit scary for this old Canadian , but it was sure worth it with all the beautiful land I got to see.
Converted, slight crop,+2 Contrast, resized, sharpened, framed and signed.

Thanks for your hard work each week Helen and have a great weekend folks.

Beautiful shot Wanda! Love how you placed the road off center! This reminds me of Colorado! I like the low hanging clouds too!
B-)
Linda

Great open and wide shot Wanda.
I like how you comoposed this with the road on the left.
The additional peaks in the background is a great touch.
Great natural colors.

Hi Wanda,
Wow! Beautiful scenery and I like your point of view. Nos yeux sont entrainés sur la route vers l'infini du chemin. Bravo mon amie!
Diane

Hey Wanda - this is also a bit like the countryside around my mother's home in the Scottish Borders. And I'm currently sitting in the lounge at Changi airport before heading back there for a long weekend...

Anyway, your photo! Well composed, very representative of Scottish country roads, the colours a lifelike and the combo of blue skies mingling with thunderclouds is also a fair representation of Scottish weather!

Very nice shot, Wanda.

Hi Wanda,
Nice landscape and country picture . My wife always wanted to visit Scotland but for this year(september) it will be Ireland . This is a fine composition with all the elements at the good place . Thanks also for the instructive note .
Daniel

Hello Wanda,

The minute that I saw the sky, I knew it was not from your homeland! Actually, the sky makes a good integral part of your photograph!
Good pov with the off-centre track leading the eye.
I love how the colours decline and recede into the distance. This is a great shot for a painter to copy!

Just imagine if you had to drive on roads like that all the time! Most of the roads are quite narrow where I live ... but not one track! It does keep the speed down though!

Kind regards,
Bev :-)

"You take the High road & Ill take the low road & I'll be in scotland before yea" seems to come to my mind on viewing this image Wanda, brings back very fond memories, colourful & natural loooking landscape of this part of the globe well seem & taken,I guess you can get a wee scare driving on these narrow roads, you never know what's around the corner:)
warm regards

Ron

Belle image wide , Bravo , l'infiniattire mon regard , Du très beau travail Bravo Réal

A nicely composed image Wanda, what impresses me the most is the natural looking colour and teh detail throughout. I see some gorse by the roadside, the only thing missing is the purple of the heather. Just beautiful,
David

HI Wanda
This shot definitely does justice to the description in your note, as you got all the necessary elements.
Great shot and if fits the theme very nicely.
Dot

Bonjour Wanda
What a stunning landscape. It looks like a desert but since the photo was shot in March, I presume it was all green by now. That single lane road is inviting and I rather pedal than drive on this kind of stretch. Very nice succession of hills and mountains and a real threatening sky.
Very nice photo and a good contribution to the theme.
Bravo Wanda

Hello Wanda.
Beautiful view on the mountains of Scottland.
Good capture .
Have a nice day.
Jan

A nice view Wanda. I would like to see more of the road in the foreground - after all it is the main subject here. But a very pleasing landscape never the less.
DAvid

And yes indeed, this could be in any number of places in Scotland. I remember those roads and luckily Ad thought it was fun to drive, so I just let him ^-^.
Hi Wanda,
An excellent composed picture of beautiful and rugged Scotland.

Hi Wanda,
It certainly is a beautiful scene...bleak, but beautiful. It would be an interesting road to drive on a dark night.
You have made a friend for life, Marilyn was so tickled that you mentioned her name.
Cheers,
Pete.

Wonderful colours in this wonderful compo.

thanks,

Shots like this one make me homesick for Britain. I have lived in Canada 12 years now and there is some lovely countryside but "theres no place like home" I think it has something to do with the changeable weather which creates such lovely soft light and shade.
Great capture.
Regards David

This Image is really good wanda

the picture has so much depth..

well spaced and framed..
