Well, what can you say? It's lightning, two bolts of fork lightning.

Picture was taken from my balcony, whilst hiding from the storm. Using bulb setting and remote shutter release on the camera. I waited for the lightning to strike, and after counting to five, trip the shutter release to finish the shot (and when doing so a big fork of lightning went straight across the sky in down into the reservoir!)

Picture cropped in CS2, and then posted on here.

hi banditloon,

i think this is amazing image, can't quite believe it was earlier tonight? your details are superb, the streetlights are star-like. the lightning bolts are crisp and fiery. lovely capture, very well done, thanks.

regards c.d.

Outstanding image, Daniel! Nice and crisp and you can practically hear the crackle of the lightning and the boom of the thunder. Your POV gives the photo a nice sense of scale and composition with the foreground, but leaving the bulk of the frame for the action in the sky.

Bravo!

Hello Daniel,

This is a wonderful shot. Its hard enough to get a lightning in a shot. But you have managed to get the lightning along with the street light and a nice frame. Its awesome.

Thanks
Somu

Hello Daniel
Very up to the minute! Great sharp capture of the lightning. You had an excellent view of the storm.
Regards, Les

Great technique to capture this - 10/10 for patience and timing! I like the way the street lights have taken on that star effect - contrasts well with the shape and colour of the lightning.
Thanks for sharing
Mark

Wonderful catch!
Not easy to get such a good and clear photo.

Well Done
