A beer with Toucan

Just returned from a short trip to the UK, visiting Aberdeen in Scotland and Exeter in Devon.

The day before I left, I met Kilted-Arab and his three girls and had a great day in Amsterdam. Understood from Richard he had a great flight back home to Singapore. His wee Hannah gave him during the flight everything she got :-)

Anyway yesterday I met Toucan1967 and his wife Becky. We spent some time together and having a beer in this typical English pub "Double Locks" while the evening was falling.

Thanks Andy for the time you spent! Next time we you show me more of Devon!

Took this shot with my Sony cybershot, using the ASA program, and using the lock bridge railing as support for my camera ( I really was dead tired). In the WS Andy and Becky.

Hi Hans - another lovely "postcard style" shhot which you do so well. Given the Sony, the railing-used-as-tripod and the f2.8 + 1/40 exposure, this is a pretty decent shot. Looks like a good old pub to spend some time in :-)

Sitting by the canal and having a beer must have made you feel like you were in Amsterdam!

Composition is good, colours are strong - only thing i dont like is the bright light being pretty central but not sure there is much to be done about that. Nice shot, big fella!! (and yes, nice wee episode with Hannha, not helped by severe turbulence meaning we couldnt leave the seats and head for the bathroom!!)

Hi Hans,
Beautiful composition,well done.
Best regards,
Ralf

Hi Hans,
Great to meet you yesterday and we look forward to the next time, this is a nice shot of the Double Locks pub, good POV and some nice reflections in the water.
Well done my friend
Regards Andy

P.S. just read your note, Youngs is the name of the Brewery the pub is the Double Locks.

Rachel is Becky LOL

Very nice work Hans, glad you had a Beer, hope you had a twelve pack for me! As for the pic, as Richard said, not sure about the glare of the sky behind it. Also, this is my insanity, I can see a slight tilt, about 1/2 degree to the right, or possibly a lens distortion? I would LOVE to get my hands on the original shot so I could do levels and all that! So glad you got to meet "Tookie"... I've had the pleasure of seeing him on FB.
B-)

Hello Hans, you are certainly seeing the world. And it would have been good to see Richard again - poor fellow with Hannah 'giving him all she got' and I feel sorry for the passengers around them too!
And you met up with another TrekLenser too - Andy. Your list is growing.
Pleasant looking pub on the water - not bad for an evening shot. It's a bit dark and all that, but a postcard to remember

A nice arm and inviting photo of a seemingly, certainly from the photo, of a warm and inviting place.
The colors are great, the lighting too and is the composition.
The bright light, yeah it hurts a little as already noted, and brought to you by someone that misses slight tilts regularly, I'm not bothered by it but that's me. ;0)
Nice job with the point and shoot and railing and the beer stabilizer. ;)
TFS,
Wilt

Hoi Hans,
Excellent perspective and perfect lighting..
Beautiful colours, details,sharpnes and
beautiful water reflection.Well done my friend.TFS

Good shot - railing would be my choice support too. Beer or tired, handholding this would be hard.
Brave souls, sitting outside imbibing, and there are no railings on the waters edge - wonder how many wind up in the drink, lol!
Cheers
Otto

:-) What a lovely place Hans... so typical for the UK.
These places are great to have a pint and even most of the time for some grub you can go there...

Glad you had a nice time up there and in Amsterdam with Kilted and his family. I think it's really great to meet all these people for real.

Anyways, this is yet another nice capture of a lovely place. The light is great, but I do think I would have tried to clone that silly spotlight away.
And... seriously, I agree with Linda about the tilt!
And no... I'm not drinking! and no... no medication either. LOL

Cheers,
Anneke

Hello Hans

merhaba dear Hans...
çok güzel bir konpozisyon, eskievi restoran haline getirilmiş galiba , su kenarında güzel bir eğlence ve dinlence yeri...selamlar

Typical Englisch Hans,A nice chat and a pint in the lounge,a steak and kidney pie to join...
Real "The Red Lion scene",you know damn well how to show a country Hans.

Hi Hansie,

It was the beer in the title that attracted me - no - kidding - it was the lights.
This is an image I have in mind when thinking of relaxing in England: an old pub on the banks of a river.
Have to say that you do agreat job with that little Sony.

Hello Hans
A wonderful classic photo. Very well composed with astonishing colours and light.
Congrats, mb

Erg mooi plaatje Hans.
Prachtig dat gebouw, met die typische telefooncel er naast. Mooi achtergrondje met die bomen/silhouetten. Goede belichting.
Prima frame er omheen.
groeten,
Joop!

Hi Hans,

Don't know how I missed this one! What a quaint place to sit and have a chat with friends. Sitting outside by the river would be great! It has character on the outside, and I can only imagine the inside too!

Nice lighting at the end of the day.

Thanks for posting Andy and Becky too in WS! Nice to see them.

Lisa

Hello Hans!

Playing catch up again !. What a delightful spot for a unique TL meeting. I just visited Richard`s page to find out you met again !. I suspect , you did it on purpose , with your friends , cancelling his flight ( LOL !) to enjoy extra time with them.

Seriously , It is great to see you visiting fellow mmebers all around the globe. And your post to commemorate this event is indeed a typical postcard . Well done !
Robert
