A return to the oh-so-English village of Corfe Castle for another look at the way the ruins of the old castle still dominate the village 400 years after it was destroyed. I liked the contrast between the ancient castle and houses and the modern car.

I gave myself a bit of a challenge here as there was a car in the driveway in the foreground, orange traffic cones and a sandbag along the side of the road, and an advertising sign between us and the silver car. I clone out all of those distractions in the hopes that the view would be a little more attractive. So in addition to the usual gentle adjustments in levels, colour saturation and contrast, I spent a little time cloning out the unwelcome elements.

For newcomers to Photoshop: The trick is to sample from several different areas so that you reduce the chance of repeating patterns, which are always a dead give-away to the fact that you have altered the image. The original version has been posted as a WS for comparison.

Thanks for looking and for all your critiques, workshops and suggestions. Have a healthy, happy, and safe weekend.

What a lovely compo !

thanks,

Hi Silke,
You did a great PP to get rid of those potential distractions. The result is very neat (I couldn't spot any flaw).

Nice composition, with the curve of the road as an interesting lead-in. Very good light and colors as well,

Regards,
Ramdan.
Feel so good being surrounded by my respectful seniors, I guess this is a lucky day for me. :) Feel a bit at fault for breaking the chain.

Hi Silke,
I like the concept of having the old castle and new structures together in the same picture. I like the composition and detail in this shot. Excellent PP work, I couldn't tell anything was altered at all, but I guess that's the point. Very nice work Silke.
Regards,
Kevin

HI Silke,

This is a beautiful town that I know I would enjoy visiting! Looks very quaint and charming with the thatch roofs, stone bldgs. etc... I am very impressed with your cloning in post processing. A Car? Wow! Great job. Certainly no pattern was repeated!

thanks for sharing, Lisa

Hello Silke,

I would almost believe you lived in England from the number of lovely shots you post!

This is a great pov with the curving road leading the eye past those quaint cottages towards the focal point of the castle.
Sharp and detailed.
I cannot see where you have cloned out images ... great pp work.

Kind regards,
Bev :-)

I've decided I would like the house with/and the little silver car :) What a beautiful street this is!! A very nice blue sky, and nice natural colors. Have a good day!

The village is great with the ruin in the background Silke,an d the sky is a topper, the purple flower giving just that little extra to this perfect shot.

hahhah I recognize this picture!!! Hans has posted a similar one. I really love views such as this... the UK is so famous for it and it's the main reason why I love going there...
At thie end of October we'll be going for a looooong weekend to visit our friends there...

A lovely scene Silke; great compo, colors and sharpness...

Cheers,
Anneke

For some reason I get flash backs looking at your pictures. Do you have any idea why my dear Silke?
Anyway a great shot along the street in Corfe, fine time contrast. Excellent view well captured and framed. Superb posting my dear!

I loved visiting these English villages - so quaint and so, so different from home.
Lovely composition here Silke, especially showing the wisteria growing on the roof. It brightens up the grey stonework and thatched roof and roofing tiles - and grey road and castle remains.
And after looking at the original - congrats on your PP work!

Excellent PP work Silke. The cloning cleverly carried out, just enough saturation and the detail in the old buildings just stunning,

hi silke, wonderful shot, nice colors and details, really very lovely rustic british town scene here, i guess the new car in the scene gives away the time of image though, still so nice to view,

The convertible, tar road, new windows and the tv anteanna definitely the new, while the old is still standing after so many years. I love the houses close to the road, giving so much charm to your composition.
A very lovely shot with good pp.

Thank you for your critique on my abstract.

Hi Silke..this is a nice shot..well composed...nice details..great light.

Roger

Definely looks very English. A very charming setting. I like it.

Rob

Hello Silke !

Great to see the comparaison between the original and final shot. The overall ambiance and mood , is indeed much more pleasant and clean.

I like to do such works at times too. When I do, even when shots are fairly large, I still enlarge it three to four times to work them more accurately. I like overall the works, except the parked car. I know it is not easy, but it does look like a damaged car (*_^). No offence my dear.

Hope you are feeling better now.
Sincerely,
Robert

Hi Silke,
Beautiful composition,fantastic place.
Best regards,Ralf

Bonjour Silke,

Odile

Hi Silke
I appreciate this art work.
A great classic picture of ancient Britain.
The pressence of car distracts bit. But we could percieve differently. The presence of blooming tree is attractive.
Well done.
Peter.

Hi Silke,
Nice touch of old England :-))
Well captured.

Best regards, Daniel
