Sunday morning in Aberdeen

Just returned from a business trip to Aberdeen (Scotland) when I arrived on Friday afternoon the weather was great, so I prepared my camera for the few hours I had on Saturday to make some impressions of this city.....It was raining throughout the day :-(

So I did my thing at the airport and went back to wake up this Sunday morning with....more rain. Great still had some hours to spend so went to the restaurant for a huge Scottish breakfast :-)

After the breakfast I looked outside and it had stopped raining.... :-)
So I made a three hour walk with my camera and took some pictures of this nice Scottish city. Here one of the previous town hall of Aberdeen.

Hope you like it, at least I took the chance :-) When I went back it started raining again, I think I had three hours dry weather in Aberdeen. Next time better, although it was a good trip.

Next station will be Niort, near Bordeaux (France) were I will meet Corinne aka Coquelicot79 looking forward to meet her :-)

Merhaba
Beautiful architecture. Good work.
Good POV. TFS

Kerem

hahhahah Love the Queen and her lion on the roof there Hansie... but I do think you should take the polarizer off your camera before you go on a shoot in the city again.
I think the image is a little..."dark" (I know "dark" is not the exact right word here....)
Anyways.. I really do like the composition, with the people in front of the building.
Nice, castle like building by the way....

Cheers,
Anneke

Excellent!!
Looks like a painting here Hans.
I have not been around for a while but I still love your work..

I just love the brightness, clarity, and how you still managed to show the busy life of this place.
Nice informative note as well.
Thanks for sharing!! :)

This building is beautiful!! It always amazes me the work that had to go into building these. I would love to live surrounded by old architecture. A very nice picture and I especially like this pov. TFS and have a happy day!

Aberdeen is known as the "Granite City", Hans...everything seems to be built of that hard, grey stone - the buildings, the roads...maybe even the people ;-). The weather is usually grey as well :-)

Interesting that the two clockfaces show slightly different times. Doesn't seem perfectly sharp but nicely composed and is very "Aberdeen".

hi hans, an amazing looking building with fine details, nice job on this capture,
tfs,
scott

Good shot taken in the 3-hr break from the rain, Hansie.
The image looks sharp and clear, and I like the tones of the grey building and blue skies.
And I'm so pleased the lady at the top of the building (RH) can sit and sunbathe up there with no raindrops spoiling her fun. And her pet lion as well.
Cheers

Hi Hans

The Disneyesque architecture in Aberdeen is very impressive, & this is a well captured shot, with superb shadow detail & marvellous graphism & sharpness. Tfs!

A very nice city street shot, Hans. Technically just perfect: the verticals show no distortion at all. The mix of blue sky and clouds is beautiful, the light on the old stone building quite nice.
Apart from the rain, I'd like to see it in person; TFS

Hi Hans, you did this building justice,I'm surprised you had blue sky.Hope you managed a wee trip from this location down to the docks & then over to the miles of golden sanded beach area.Hopefully you did not miss the statue nor the famous daisy of Robert Burns? At times, due to the numerous granite buidings it can look a bit dismal, but when the sun does come out it hits on those granite blocks & rays of silver are shining brightly, making them a bit more warmer, something like the Aberdonians themselves, warm & friendly:)Aberdeen became a Royal Burgh in 1319 & its first university was founded in 1495,the city has some history for sure.

Good perspectives Hans, about as good as you could have got them. The colour of the buildings although dark still shows good detail.
David

Hi Hans. Typical Sunday morning rain in Scotland, despite the clearing blue sky the buildings still maintain a dark wet look. Excellent capture. Thanks for sharing.

Regards Phil.

P.S. Thought of you a few weeks ago as we crossed Schipol Airport to get the Sao Paulo flight.
