[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
i needed to get back to photographing in macro. the weather has been bad today so this gave me a chance to set up some shots in my dining room.
the nail was given to me by our farrier a few weeks ago because she knew that i liked to capture different things in macro. it is a horseshoe nail. the design is actually the letter 'M' which stands for mustad. this is the name of the manufacturer.

shot in colour on a sheet of A4 paper using natural light from the window and a sunfire reflector.
cropped.
converted to b/w in bw styler
used a blue filter
gold developing
panchromatic film
returned to cs3 to add vignette, frame and signature.

all c and c's welcome.

For want of a nail the shoe is lost,
for want of a shoe the horse is lost,
for want of a horse the rider is lost,
for want of a rider the battle is lost,
for want of a battle the kingdom is lost.
All for the loss of a horseshoe nail.

Hello, Brian.

This is a cracker! I think the exposure and the focus point are spot-on. Lovely textures in the subject and the contrasting background.

Not sure if I understand all your processing information - what are "gold developing" and "panchromatic filter"? I've heard of software that's available to allow mimicking of Fujichrome Velvia - is this similar?

Best Wishes,

John.
