| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
This shot was taken a long time ago with my small digital camera. It was the only one I had back then.
This ruin I found somewhere in the south of the UK, and I am terribly sorry that I don't remember where exactly. At that time I never meant to share photos with others so I didn't write down anything. Now I know that I should have done so.
This ruin dominated the landscape. It was an interesting site and the audio guide I used there was fantastic, a narrator told stories about the family who had lived there several centuries ago. The story about the decline of their reign was underlined by this view.
PP: Cropped the image, desaturated it at 75%, darkened it, adjusted contrasts, set a spotlight, worked a bit on the sky. I decided to keep it a bit noisy to put emphasize on the historic aspect.
I hope you like it and maybe you can feel a bit of the domination mentioned above.
Thanks for having a look. Kind regards, Britta
P.s.: Thanks to Symon now I know that this is Okehampton Castle. For further information have a look at wikipedia.org
And because of the workshop Symon did I decided not to delete this image. Maybe someone might learn from my horrible mistakes done in pp... Hopefully I will do so too! |

Dear Britta,
Oh ..... strange atmosphere..... Halloween is not so far away.....
Anyway it's a good pov and great shot I think.
Where are the ghosts ? LOL
Kind regards
Daisy
I did a little research and I think you may find it is Okehampton Castle.
Okehampton Castle founded by Baldwin de Brioni and is the largest in Devon. It is next to River Okement.
I feel that the dominance of the ruin has been somewhat lost with the shading of this representation. I have done a little workshop on it which I hope helps.
All the best
Symon :)
