| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
The nature reserve at Pensthorpe, where I take a lot of my bird pictures, has an annual Medieval Festival. This runs for 3 days over the August Bank Holiday in the UK. Historical recreation organisations get involved and effectively set up camp, showing a snapshot of life in the 12th, 13th and 14th centuries. These folk do live the life - there's no going home when the crowds disperse, instead they stay on site for the full time, in period dress and living in period camps.
There are a wide range of sites to see (some more photo's to follow) - the medieval crafts always amaze me, seeing people making things using authentic processes from hundreds of years ago.
This picture is of the fletcher and bow-makers equipment, showing some of the tools used to make arrows and bows, plus some of his "I made this earlier" examples. Later in the day I got to see him use one of his bows and his arrows in an archery tourney - definately wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of these things!
PP work (lots!) - cloning, adjust contrast (it was a grey day), adjust levels, adjust saturation, resize, usm (50%) and added the border. Take a look at the workshop for the original picture. |

Hi Mark. Good shot, Photographers notes and excellent P.P. work. Your P.P. work has enhanced the shot well in so far as it is not obvious. Good work. Thanks for sharing.
Regards Phil.
