Good morning Peeps

Mellow yellow yes and I see a fly but no spider... well there is another image in workshop and you will find the spider there.

I decided to shoot this lovely yellow flowering shrub for the theme but its absolutely crawling with insects. I got this first shot and then took a couple of others, not until I checked the image on the PC did I notice the huge spider that had positioned itself at perfect DOF within my frame. I was concentrating so much on the flower I had not even spotted the spider in the viewfinder! Anyway I decided the fly should have pride of place in the gallery and that the spider should be relegated to the workshop to show another view. the spider and the fly... see the spider always comes first.. but not today :-)

Both images resized and gentle framing applied in photofiltre.

Please bear with me the next couple of days as I have a very busy time. A big meeting at work this morning and then off to the dentist this afternoon to have two wisdom teeth removed (Deep joy) so the chances are I might be a little off sorts tomorrow.

TTFN and many thanks for taking the time to view.

regards Smurfie

It's a very yellow flower Helen, and the black fly on it contrasts really well. And I can see the cobweb too.
Nicely captured

Hi Helen

Great photo!
Love how you captured the fly on the flower, and you can still see parts of the web!

Regards
Tracey

PS tried login onto doodraz, but it keeps telling me my email address already exists, not sure why though?

Hello Helen,

A lovely shot of this Potentillo flower recording its textural details as well as it mellow yellows. I like the way the second flower is nestling closely under the main one.
Good dof and the acrobatic fly is a bonus!

My personal preference is to see the flower looking into the frame rather than out of it.

Kind regards,
Bev :-)

you got the fly (and spider), and i got the red ant.....:)

a nice capture, Helen.
bright and striking yellow and yet beautifully captured without an OE. well done!

Je suis toujours en admiration devant les beautés de la nature.

Colour, details, light are all super, Helen
If I may make one suggestions though?
The flower seems to be facing to the left -- would it not be better therefore to have a little more space on the left than on the right?

The sunlight shows off the details beautifully.
The blurred bg is excellent.

Hi Helen , a very nice image with lovely color and lighting , I like the choice of field depth here not over blurring the nice colors of the back ground plants , the darkness of the background also highlights the flower nicely , TFS ,and for the great theme ideas too

Art

I'd rather see a fly on the flower than the spider. There would not be left much room for seeing the yellow flower when the spider was the one sitting on it. Although you can see he is in the neighbourhood by the lightning rags on the right.
I hope the fly has escaped in time.

Hello Helen
Good shot there, with lively colours,
Vicky
p.s. good luck with the dentist!

Attractive capture,Nice capture moment of fly action with good composition,Vivid and mellow yellow of flower made fly so outstanding, highly sharpness and good bokeh too.Good work,TFS.

Hello Helen!
Very beautiful Mellow Yellow composition!
Lovely colours, good light, perfect focus!
Best regards!
Lili

I am crazy about colors. Here I can see what it is said: "yellow on green gives a radiant effect, outshining the green". Since green is a mixture of yellow and blue, the yellow is among friends. Beautiful photo with extra bonus, like the well sharpness of the fly and the spider´s thread (I will be waiting for your spider photo). TFS

Morning Helen, lovely image on this damp wet morning.

regards Mark :)

hi helen,
I'm glad I joined the theme...lovely pics there.
This pic of yours is 'spot on' on the theme.
Initially I was looking for the spider but only managed to see a strand of web on the right.
The whole thing fell into place when i read your note and saw the WS picture...
...it's like, 'there came a big spider, and sat down beside her'...heh heh!
I hope you were not scared.
