Hello everyone,an example of yet more symmetry in nature.
My husband, over the years has nurtured lots of cacti and succulents. This one is from the Agave family.
Agave are not cacti as many people believe, they are a succulent. In fact, they are more closely related to the lily and the amaryllis plants.
This plant is sitting in the garden at the moment, not enjoying the wet weather! Then in the autumn it is taken into our greenhouse, our only problem is that it keeps growing, and is now approximately 24 inches[60cms] in diameter, and it will be extremely difficult to get it through the door!
Cropped, sharpened, adjusted contrast and tweaked the colour very slightly, then resized for posting.
Thanks for looking, and have a good weekend. |

Hello Jean,
This shot of yours was looking a bit lonely and neglected with no points, so I thought I must give it the once-over.
They really are fantastic plants and you have produced an excellent image here. I like the subtle gentle shades of green which contrast so greatly with those sharp spikes.
Incidentally, you might be interested in this image of an Agave I came across recently.
Kind regards,
Peter.

A beautiful healthy specimen. I like the symmetry and the dark spikey edges that make it look a bit dangerous:) Nice light and color quality, and clear focus. Well done.
