There are ment to be around thirty seven species of the midge in Scotland, they say that the most voracious of them is called the Highland Midge Culicoides impunctatus.
In the summertime, midges can reach very high numbers and it is reported that in one study 5 million midges were collected from an area of only two square metres.
God I hate them :) |

Hey, Donald,
I love the lighting and color in this and the way the midges are caught in the backlight. (I LOVE backlight) Dougie has told me about these wretched creatures and he hates them, too. Great job! Many thanks and warmest regards,
Shelly

Hi Donald,
What a magic ambiance you captured here!
The warm lighting is very beautiful and the Highland Midge Culicoides impunctatus make a good input at the image despite you hate them! :) Here, we have some species named fire-fly!
Had you note that branch on the right side looks like the head of a snake on the point to eat the mosquitos...
Just a nit-pick about the tilt. You easily correct it with Photoshop (edit/free transform/ distort function).
My compliments for this one! Annie

hello Donald,
a heartfelt note accompanies this very Scottish scene. Pity about the tilt but that can be corrected by PP software.
My son spent a summer on a scientific research programme and all he had to do was allow himself to be bitten by mozzies! The only upside was that he got free food and accommodation and got to see some eautiful scenery staying on the west coast of Scotland.
