| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Hi
We were out on a walk yesterday when the sky was really grey with threatened rain. Some goldfinches were spooked and flew to a nearby 'raptor' tree and sat twittering away.
Knew they were too far away to get detail on the finches but liked how they all grouped together so took a pic.
When I got home the picture, although, taken in colour looked almost B&W due to the weather and the time of night.
Following recent advice re tinting from Whiteknight, I converted to B&W then added an orange glow to represent a sunset.
It became quite noisy when i did this so I ran through photofiltre's dust reduction. It still looked noisy so I increased the reduction amount. It provided this effect but has made it softer all over more than I would like.
PP - As above plus sharpened, shadows increased and resized for TL
Thanks for looking
All workshops and constructive critiques welcome
cheers

I don't think a workshop's needed for this. You've obviously found the 'tinting module' of whatever software you use!
This is nice. Fairly narrow DOF throwing the background out of focus nicely - that brings the subject branches into view. The warm colour is great for this scene..
Good work
David
An interesting experiment Linzi.
The darker sharper silhouettes in the foreground are quite effective.
I think the more distant blurred ones tend to distract and confuse a little though.(I think it would have been tricky to clone them out though ... I'm hopeless at that :)
The colour is a pleasant tone, representative of a real sunset, but there does seem to be some blotchiness (or is it my monitor?)
Did you add the shading to the edges?
It doesn't look like vignetting as such.
Like I said,an interesting experiment, that sort of worked ... a bit :)

very nice shot Linzi love the colours keep em coming
Linzi,
I think I prefer this "version" of your latest post - it's got more depth - the second layer of trees - and indeed, the lack of focus, work well for the mood of this image.
OK, couldn't resist a workshop this time - just an alternative presentation really.

Colin
