New camera arrived yesterday, not had much time to try it out yet. Weather here in Scotland dull and overcast, managed to get a couple of shots of this robin earlier this morning before the rain started.

No PP work except cropping, resize and add border.

Unable to open the NEF file with Paint Shop Pro X2, so any advice on this would be helpful.
Opened the image in Nikon Capture NX2.
Cropped the image and saved as tif file.

Hi Derek,

You can not do much with a critique like fabulous, but then again when you want point by point critique best not upload such a high quality picture and cute subject.

Nice camera Derek, fancy one myself or a D3, Image looks really sharp.

Think you will have to update your painshop pro online i'm sure there will be an update for the D700, but if there isn't it won't be far away.

Can't believe you have such bad weather, here in Selkirk its glorious sunshine NOT :-)

Peter

Hello, Derek.

Wonderful!

A wonderfully sharp and clear and perfectly exposed shot of this little fellow against a nicely out-of-focus background!

This one is perfection itself!

You must be very pleased indeed with the D700, not to mention that wonderful big Sigma lens. I look forward to seeing many more pictures from your lovely new equipment, Derek.

Best Wishes,

John.

Hi Derek,
You captured a beautiful bird with a lovely color.
Your focus here is great!

hi derek.
excellent compo with terrific detail.
you did well to capture him before he fluttered away.

i saw one of these fellows today. does this mean it will soon be xmas?

thanks for your comment on my 200th pic.
Brian

good first capture and lovely subject. i notice the purple fringing on the light areas i too find a lot of shots have this abberation. do you know what causes it etc as i find i have to desaturate the worst bits.

Hi Derek
Superb shot of this Robin. I am willing to swap cameras with you that is if you find that you cannot get used to it. I would have preferred less border and more image.
Well done with your new camera.
Mike
