[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Always wondered why my car had a stop watch in the display, now I know.
I live about 300yards from a cross roads on the edge of town, could not make up my mind which road to go for this weeks theme so I tried 5 minutes along all four.

Workshop North (3.2 Miles)
Heading towards Galashiels I had to slow down a little so that I was on the bridge after 5 minutes. The photo shows the old road bridge over the river Tweed.

Workshop South (3.7 miles)
Going towards Hawick, 5 minutes took me to the outskirts of a village called Ashkirk, the photo is taken looking south.

Workshop East (3.8 miles)
Heading towards St Boswells, the photo is of the Eildon hills, these are a famous Border landmark and can be seen for miles around, they can even be seen from the English border some 30 miles away.

Workshop West 7.htm (2.1 miles)
Took a drive up the Yarrow valley, 3 minute drive and a 2 minute walk, this took me to the cauld on Etrrick Water.

Have added all the images to workshop.

Hi Derek,

A wonderful idea to go in all directions.
I am amazed at the surrounding you live in - would not mind seeing those at a 5 minutes distance of my home.

Hey what a great idea...saved you deciding on which one to post. You certainly have some lovely spots and only 5 mins away. I like your presentation here Derek with the compass in the middle..very original.

Well done to you.

Hello Derek,

I think this is going to be a very interesting theme as we see and appreciate the variety of environments in which people live.
You have splendid views, in each direction.
Each photograph has quite a different style. I particularly like to see the salmon jumping; something I have never witnessed personally.

Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Four really terrific views here!
Superb compositions on all, but my absolute favourite is the leaping fish that you encountered on your drive west.

Hello, Derek.

This is a fine montage, very well executed. The image perfectly suits the theme in my opinion, and you have made a real effort to stick faithfully to Helen's requirements for this week's postings.

As per usual, all the photographs are technically excellent.

Very well done!

Kind Regards,

John.

Excellent work Derek, 10 minutes and I may have been able to get all of this bar the salmon :). Good colour and detail in each image, well laid out in the frame and a fine submission to the theme,
David
