Good Morning Everyone,

A very early start this morning.

My posting is of my great aunt's baby cloggs.
I should have put a coin next to these so that you could appreciate the size. They really are the size of a baby's feet.

In Lancashire, in the first half of last century, many people worked in the cotton mills. The traditional footware was the leather clogg with a wooden base and irons to stop the base wearing on the cobbled streets. These irons were a great source of amusement for boys who used to kick the pavement with them and cause sparks!

So, everyone had footware like this, even babies!

I have kept these over the years. They are a reminder of social conditions, they are very interesting in their own right and make a great talking point when we have visitors!

Many thanks for stopping by.
Please feel free to offer feedback on any aspect of the photograph. :-)

pp sharpened, added marque tool, selected inverse, added texture, added border, signed

Classic shot Bev, first time to see such kind of baby's cloggs. Fascinating image indeed.

hi beverley.
nice subject matter and nicely composed.
not sure if i like the black oval?
have done a ws to give my take on this nice scene.
Brian

Good point for this theme,Well placing position of focal point and interesting subject to related to story too, good control of sharpness with shallow depth in BG.Good work,TFS.

a simple shot and a good addition.
good colors and details.
well done. TFS

They don't look small here Bev. You should have put a coin next to them.

You ask for feedback - okay: I feel you should have placed them on a better BG. The grass, the stained concrete and even the lower step - don't help make them look good at all. I like Brian's WS, but even placed on a table or even a baby blanket - anything but this... Sorry!

The shoes themselves are a wonderful historical items to keep, especially knowing that your aunt wore them

A very informative and wonderful story, Bev. I love things that are old and to know the history is a bonus. Interesting framing you did this time with the texture added outside. I can see the steel on the edge of the toes. Great capture and well presented.
Warmest Regards
Wanda

Hiya Bev

Oh they are just too cute! I agree about the coin howver we can actually gauge the size by the nails or rivets around the toes of the cloggs. Nice sharp shot and I like the oval around them to give emphasis.A sharp image with excellent texture showing too.

TFS and for joining in the theme

kind regards Helen

Very fine composition colours and details, although I think I will second Janice's motion: a different setting might have been better

A different setting and minus the oval (or a softer one) and it would be ideal Bev. I do like the view downwards though and the detail in the shoes quite clear. My sister still has some of our grandmothers boots, those that required a hook for lacing. TFS,
David

HI Beverly
An heirloon that is worth a lot sentimental and money wise.
A great shot as the angle shows us the tips quite well.
A very good addition to the theme.
TFS the story itself is worth a lot.
