[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Hi Everyone. This is the fourth and final posting of HDR shots taken in Lichfield Cathedral.clicky to the website here.

To learn how to create HDR images in Photomatix Pro Click Here to view an excellent 10 minute video.

The image on the left has been edited in Silver Efex Pro, an excellent piece of software. This is a link to their website

I still remain sceptical of the merits of HDR photography. No one can doubt the graphic detail of HDR but I question it's artistic merits.

Looking forward to reading your comments.

Regards Phil.

Hello Philips,
Excelent work with these two diferent times look. Great effect and great mood.
Congrats, mb

Nice comparisons.... HDR is great if non OVERCOOKED if you know what I mean. Sometimes it can just look false, but if done well - well, I do a few myself and hopefully they look realistic.

Hi Philip

I like your picture middle to half
A notion in two ways is had of as the
Cathedral would be. I like the diversity!
And unassuming that she is majestic with all your details!
Congratulations for the compo and creativity!

I love the extreme presentation style here - from the minimalist on the left to the opulent on the right - superb way to show this beautiful building in its glory.
Thanks for sharing
Mark

Hi Philip

Useful experiment.
Both are good images in their own way.
The left one has a dreamy Victorian feel to it and the one in the right shows the graphic details of the Cathedral.
I have also been experimenting with HDR, some results I like others have been sent to the recyle bin.

Regards Derek

PS Thanks for the link to the Photomatix video.

Hi Philip.
I like the comparison of colour and b&w versions of the same photo. Both are versions are great. Good composition and sharpness.

dear Philip,
I'm interested in your both trials, HDR images and infrared photographs.
infrared shots show us a different way to view by the another light, and HDR shots show us after scaned and reconstructed images by our visual imaginations.
of course "these are artistic or not?" depends upon the feeling of the photographer...
about this your shot, in "800 pixel" image, I cannot see its fine detail. but the ambience of this contrast, I can see one interesting taste of the visual imaginative space on the old room of mysterious cathedral. it is, in my feeling, still light or frozen light. zero speed light, not as max speed of the light.
thank you,
Akihisa
