I'm not expert on Lepidoptera, but I'm guessing this is a moth rather than a butterfly.... It was out feeding in the late afternoon sunshine though, so may be not.

I like the way in this shot, it looks as though it is staring at the bright sun in a blue sky...

In PS, cropped, adjusted levels and highlights/shadows Darkened & saturated the blue channel, then tweaked brightness and contrast. Resized and sharpened with BD Sizer

hi andy,

I'm no expert either, but i think its a comma, pretty distinctive with the ragged wings.

the image is pretty sharp, good pov and interesting bokeh bg.good colours throughout, maybe a touch over exposed on white flowers, no big deal though.

regards cd

Hello Andy, Very good macro of this beauty. TFS and regards,
Siegfried

Complimenti questa macro
è veramente molto bella!!!

Alexia

Nice bright colours, interesting POV and composition which gives a nice contrast in colours and good DOF. A nice capture of a nice butterfly (and I'm jealous that you've seen sunshine in the UK!)
Thanks for sharing
Mark

p.s. it looks a lot like a Comma

Hi Andy,

Beautiful butterfly (all butterflies have small rounded clubs at the end of their antenna). The colors are bright and the butterfly is in focus. Great composition and rule of 3rds.

TFS,

Cheryl
