I am not sure what this flower is but it was one of many I took at Lanhydrock house in Cornwall, I am not complaining that the sun was out for a change but it did give some problems while trying to compose shots, it also seemed that the best flower heads were in direct or strong sidelight(note to self.. buy a reflector or carry a bit of card!)

Thanks to all who view and comment on my pictures.

Hi Andy,
Thanks for this nice delicate flower. In my opinion it''s a tad too dark and also to much centered. The image becomes more interesting when the core of the flower is more of centered. Made a WS to show what I mean. Nonentheless the overall impresion is fine my friend. A nice posting.

Hello Andy, a pretty flower, could it be a type of lily perhaps?
Hans suggestion and workshop has altered your composition, but nevertheless yours is a fine picture.
I like the light coming in from the right.

Did you enjoy Lanhydrock?

Tfs, regards Jean.

Good light and shade subtle effects. Excellent clarity and DOF. The contrast is wonderful. Good post.

Hiya Andy

I have no idea what flower this is either but your capture is deligthful, lovely sharp detail and I think the lighting is superb. Its a bit annoying how the flowers all bloom in the sunlight but unfortunately thats what they are designed to do. I know what you mean though its a right pain in the *ss sometimes. Maybe just one small thing here I think the shot is just a tad central and I would have used that top right leaf as the point for a crop on the right. Just personal opinion though and im not saying this is wrong in any way,

TFS kind regards Helen

Nice sharp photo - yes, a tad dark as Hans says.. You're right about the 'note to self', a reflector would help immensely - even a small one here!!
Good use of narrow DOF too.
Cheers

This has to be one of your BEST ever Toukie! Man, I just love those tones in this! The bit of light coming in makes the other colors glow in the shade! Ambient light is so nice! You really did a great job here!

Hi Andy,
I actually really like the low light in this picture, it gives a soft/delicate effect. I also prefer off-centred subjects - it prevents the picture from looking like another postcard/greeting card/calendar. The contrast is just exquisite here. Well done.
