[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Taken this morning in obviously fine weather, and processed using HDR software to balance what was an image with considerable contrast. Final tweaks were done in Photoshop. Wet feet were experienced during the taking process.
The place is in the Scottish Borders known as the Eildon Hills which was the site of a Roman camp called Trimontium.

Hi Gordon,
What a wonderful photo. The vista is really beautiful. I really like the HDR effect in the photo since it is not noticable at all. Love the light in the FG grasses and the entire composition. The whole photo has a great tranquil feel.

I'm not a big fan of HDR or polarizers, Gordon, but I think you did quite a good job here, especially on the landscape itself. Your PP work generated a fragile light that subtly underlines the tender beauty of the scenery. It looks sufficiently "natural" without necessarily being close to reality.
However, the sky pleases me less. There, the effect of your PP work looks rather unnatural to me (that kind of "gloomy" blue). Said this, I don't think it is in entire contradiction with the colours and the light of the landscape itself. So, finally, I don't feel too frustrated about that ;o).

Worth going out early for Gordon, looks like you have a cracking lens there :-)

Well composed shot with detailed foreground (pity about the wet feet).

The HDR treatment looks natural, and really complements the image.
